Over on the "Will and Grace" page of this site, there was once a situation in which I posted a thread about a topic that I had been thinking about. Other posters did not seem too interested in participating in a conversation about this topic. Time went on and myself and others posted threads about many other things regarding that series. Since there has now been a reboot of that show and peoples' interest started to pick up again, I decided to give the subject that was not popular another try. I started a thread called "My Own Reboot". This one now has views but no replies. It is the third thread from the top of that show's page. It will take another paragraph for me to explain my attempts to do a reboot of a topic pertaining to "Gimme a Break!".
There was a female poster who I used to correspond with quite often. We would send each other private messages about a bunch of different topics pertaining to this show. One thing that we mentioned on several occasions is the classic "your purse, your purse" line from the first season episode called the "Emergency". Most viewers seem to be of the belief that the lady on the payphone (played by Hazel Shermet) got what she deserved for acting the way that she did. I brought up this issue with my friend and fellow poster. I asked her if she thought that for Hazel Shermet's character to have to go charging after her purse after Nell hung it on a gurney served her right for hogging the pay phone, referring to Nell as some pushy woman and thinking that she was so hotsy totsy. She replied with "yes. I think that for Hazel Shermet's character to have to chase down her purse after Nell placed it on a gurney pole served her right for carrying on a meaningless conversation with her friend when Nell had to make an emergency call home. I thought that this was a very well thought out reply. This being the case, I posted a thread called "A Well Thought-Out Reply". I asked what other posters thought about this situation. No one replied. I wonder if it will be different this time around! |
