Ha ha! That's cute! Oh, speaking of Jim Hensen/Mupppets, the Experience Music Project museum in Seattle has been showcasing a Jim Hensen Muppet exhibit. Of course it ends on Sunday and now I want to go to it, so I'm hoping we can make it! If I go I'll tell you guys all about it! It's been there since May and of course I wait till the last minute, but that's pretty much always true with me!! Andrea |

That sounds like fun. I hope you get to go. I sure know what you mean about waiting until the last minute.

I love the original sesame street (1969-1991 or so) -- In 1993 the show went to crap.... Now its a piece of garbage like most everything else on TV!! I collect VHS tapes of different media from Sesame street.. Right now I have 9 different tapes (Most from 1986 (2 from 1988 (2 from 1990))) Its very important for me to find ORIGINAL ANALOG RECORDINGS OF THIS SHOW as I want the nicest experience possible (This is how I remember the show so I want it the same way) Its sad that they destroyed this show.... I recently found out the creator died in 1990 which is probably they did this in 93

I was a huge Sesame Street fan when I was a kid! I watched the show a lot. I remember having some Sesame Street records ("Grover Sings The Blues" was my favorite) and some shirts. Anyone else remember this?
I didn't get into James Taylor until I was in my 20's and when I first started listening to "Your Smiling Face" I remember thinking, "Hey, where's the flute?" ![]() |

YAY! I LOVE Sesame Street! (And the Muppets and most all of Jim Henson's work in general.)
Sesame Street has gone through a number of changes but it's still great- and still running after 45 years! If you want to keep up on it, I suggest checking out the excellent Muppet Wiki. http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Sesame_Street and of course- the best Muppet fan site online- www.muppetcentral.com |

Oh yeah- I absolutely LOVE that James Taylor appearance with Oscar- one of my favorite Taylor songs- "Your Smiling Face"- of course, he modified the lyrics just a little for Oscar's sake- lol.
(I love a number of James Taylor songs, by the way- great classic singer and songwriter.) |

Does anyone remember when the show used to feature comedy skits, especially in the early years, such as Buddy and Jim and Larry and Phyllis?

That was mainly in the 1970s and yes, I am familiar with them- some of the Buddy and Jim sketches are included on the Sesame Street Old School DVD releases.
Those are great sketches, along with the Larry and Phyllis and Wally and Ralph skits. (http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Buddy_and_Jim) The main human cast did a number of such sketches too that are really funny and memorable- David and Maria and Bob doing a deserted island bit particularly stands out to me- Maria doing Charlie Chaplin- the human cast doing songs like "What's The Name of That Song?" (the Muppets were in there too though), etc. And I also love the Mad Painter sketches! And the classic Baker songs.

Some of my friends work on the show here in Queens. I am a little jealous of them. LOL.
My favorite human character is Susan played by Loretta Long. She and Bob McGrath have been with the show since day one from 1969. I love it. |
