Confused Green-eyed Monster

Is it just me, or is this episode never really shown in syndication? Is there a reason why? I don't think I have ever seen it.

Really? I've never heard of it being skipped. Weird.

It's one of my favorite episodes. I can't even point to why it's so enjoyable other than the ending.

Too often, this show had episodes just end, everybody stops talking and the closing credits start. This ending was an exception and the ending is genuinely funny.

The episode is almost entirely about Natalie and Tootie. Blair, Jo and Mrs. G only appear in a few scenes. Even more interesting, except at the beginning, there's none of the Blair/Jo interaction. Blair and Jo are both relevant in their (small) parts for the story but as individuals. Jo's trying to get Nat and Tootie to stop fighting and fails completely. Blair's focused entirely on her set design.

"Nice girls don't throw trees" is a very funny line and after Natalie and Tootie make up, there's still the question of who wrote that positive article in the school paper. Very well done for a basic 22-minute episode.

It’ll be on GAC Family this Friday (July 15). Granted at 3:30am in the morning ET, still counts though.

It does feel like a classic---one of many!

They even both agree (without saying so) that they're on the same side, when they each come to Mrs. Garrett about Natalie and Tootie's fight while they're backstage.

Is there? I've always interpreted as being implied that Blair wrote the review.

That's the implication but it's never specified. There's a small chance Blair had someone else write it. [Probably not Nancy.] Either way, Mrs. G asked Natalie who wrote it and as the editor, Natalie would know, but that's too much like realism for this ending.

Which Nancy do you mean?

The Nancy who was disappointed that Tootie wouldn't be involved in the school play. I *think* she's also onscreen for a half-second as the second part begins after the commercial break but I can't tell if that's actually her.

That's something I've always wondered about. This episode is Felice Schachter's last appearance unless you count the reunion episode. Mindy says she and Felice were very close when they did the show together. Mindy also points out that she had no acting experience whatsoever and Kim was very experienced and helpful, so this may be where the Natalie/Tootie relationship came from.

So it's an interesting coincidence that Nancy made one more appearance in an episode where Natalie, who never showed any interest in acting before or after, suddenly wants to star in a play, leading to a fight with Tootie. The episode needs to give Blair and Jo something to do but except for the beginning, it uses them as individuals, not the duo we're used to.

I like how it's played out though. You know it's pretty much either Blair, a boyfriend of Blair's she had influence on, or a friend of Blair's she had influence on. Something with Blair.

Oooo, that's a very interesting point and a great question.

We already have so much Blair/Jo material in the series though. I think it's a breath of fresh air to break it up with Natalie/Tootie fights or other things.
