Eddie sounded great doing Panama, but it just wasn't the same without Alex, Michael Anthony and DLR. Valerie was always so beautiful, just way too much make up there. She's the type that is so gorgeous that she doesn't even need make up.

She writes about that appearance in her first book. Says she bombed, barely smiled, was nervous and insecure, was very uncomfortable, brings up the fact that its pointed out as a 16 year old she dated a 27 year old Paul Shaffer, and just wanted to get out of there. And points out Letterman never had her back on the show.

I didn't think she was as bad as all that, but since she says she felt uncomfortable, it's probably best that Letterman never had her back.

Yeah, it didn’t seem “I’m never having you back” bad, and she’s probably being a bit hard on herself, but that’s just the way it ended up going. By the way, Eddie was on one more time in ‘93 after Dave moved to 11:30pm on CBS.
