Bingo!

Denise was flaky, but that was what made her funny.

Denise was funny, as well, on ADW, and I sure felt her absence.
Well said. I agree.

Default With Or Without Denise...That Is The Question

I liked Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show a lot but the first season of A Different World compared to seasons 2-6 is no comparison. Now if the show would have been better with the revamped behind the scenes changes to the show format that Debbie Allen made with or without Denise that is debatable.

If Denise (& Maggie) would have remained on the show I still think it would have been a great show but without Denise the show took off in season two and onward as it focused more on the HBCU aspect of college life. Plus, the additional cast additions (Kim, Freddie, Mr Gaines) made it a more rounded show in my mind.

I did like Denise on the show, and I think her character did help ADW get that initial push off the ground. But from her departure before Season 2 and onward, the show was able to flourish and grow into something beyond "a Cosby Show spinoff."

Season 1 was awful and Lisa Bonet couldn't carry a show by herself.

A Different World improved massively when Debbie Allen took over in Season 2 and they changed the cast around.
