I've just finished authoring a complete set of "Madman of the People" to DVD. These were recorded to VHS in two hour mode, then ripped to DVD in two hour mode, so the quality is excellent. This is the complete run of 16 episodes in airdate order, 4 episodes per disk, 4 disks, with all original commercials except for one episode that came from a different source and has no commercials. The only two problems with this set worth mentioning are that one episode has some *very* light video sparkle and another one has a breaking news text crawl that lasts about thirty seconds. Other than that this set is cherry! They're from the first run broadcasts and have an occasional light NBC or local station screen bug. Dabney Coleman here plays magazine columnist Jack Buckner in a role very similar to his Slap Maxwell from about six years earlier (I have that one complete also). The highlights for me are Cynthia Gibb as Jack's daughter Meg, and especially Concetta Tomei as his wife Delia (I've had a crush on her since China Beach and the air conditioner) ... John Ales is entertaining as Jack and Delia's son Dylan, but at first I actually thought he was Pauly Shore! Anyway, it's an entertaining show that won't disappoint Dabney Coleman fans and it's a near-perfect collection for completeness and quality. I set chapters at the start and end of every commercial break so if you don't care for commercials just hit Chapter Skip as soon as one starts, and it will jump past that entire commercial break and pick up at the start of the next segment of the show. I plan to reauthor the entire set all over again with no commercials in the near future, but for now, if you'd like a set with all of the original commercials, write to me privately and we'll work something out. . |

I've finished the no commercials version of "Madman Of The People". Cutting the commercials cut a whole disk, so the no commercials set is three disks. With the original commercials it's four disks. If you're interested please send me a private message. . |
