Default UM’s Most chilling mugshots/composites of Killers/Suspects

In the thread on grisly moments in the show, I was about to talk about how in the Larry Dickens segment I always have chills run up and down my spine every time I see Edward Bell’s mugshot.

Another picture of a killer that creeps me out is the one of Dennis Depue with his ex-wife Mary.

Are there any other chilling mugshots/photos in UM that give you the chills?

The first thought that came to mind is the sketch of Beverly McGowan's killer (Elaine Parent) in the disguise she wore. I remember watching that segment as a kid and then again in college, in the middle of the night. It gave me chills both times.

Also, the sketch of the Blind River Rest Stop killer was pretty creepy.

The sketches and mug shots of wanted criminals scared me a lot as a kid back in 89-94 timeframe when I watched the show on NBC. One that really stands out was the sketch of Larry Tutt, the guy who murdered Bill Henderson. The IH 70 killer sketch scared me as well.

yes, but what really makes the composite creepy is the brutality and ambiguity of the case. is that elaine parent or an accomplice of hers dressed like Beverley in the composite?

that's what really makes it creepy....not only hearing of the brutal murder of Beverly beforehand, but not knowing if it was a man or elaine in that composite. chilling.

Agreed. I still maintain that she had an accomplice.

Likewise. Especially at the airport picking up the rental car. I don't know how Elaine could disguise herself as a muscular man disguised as Beverley McGowan

I do wonder if this accomplice helped her kill Beverly, or if he was just hired to disguise as Beverly to pick up the rental car?

Do we know if the Ontario LE showed Gord McAllister a photo of Ronald West? I know Gord died in 2012…

That DePue picture... I'm actually surprised they didn't throw the copies away and attempt a retake. He should have been told to actually NOT look like he was about to stab someone to death.

There were other pictures of Dennis shown in the segment and all of them were very unflattering. I think he was someone who could just never take a good picture. But the one with Marilyn in the blue suit? He looks full on serial killer.

If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that portrait was taken during the breakdown of their marriage (not towards the end, but like in between), but even looking at the other pictures of him, he looks absolutely unflattering.

I wonder whatever happened to the kids? The early 1990s must’ve been a traumatic time for them…

Larry Tutt's sketch creeped me out, too. My list of top creepy composites:

1) "Sam" from the Beverly McGowan case

Somebody asked on this thread why everyone is afraid of this one. Someone else said it best: It's just creepy AF with the wildness of the Cleopatra wig. Especially with the added angle of not knowing for a long time if it was Elaine Parent or an accomplice. I know people are passionate in their opinions either way. I believe it was Elaine Parent and she just loved trolling people. Not to mention it was the 1990s--it would have been a lot easier to impersonate someone.

I am relieved to know I'm not the only one that am still creeped out by this thing. It's easy to say, "It's just on paper (or now on the internet, thank you)," but these sketches were designed to stick out in people's minds, or what is the point? Certain images just linger in the brain. Someone else stated on another thread that somehow the sketch artists channel the energy of the person depicted. That's not a woo-woo thing. Images have power--just ask any advertising executive.

I think we can agree that the energy of the "Sam" composite and so many others is: I don't care about human life, and I will hurt you if it suits my purposes.

2) Blind River Rest Stop/I-70 Killer/Connecticut River Valley (tie)

Especially the Blind River guy. Even in that drawing you can see the lack of humanity.

3) Larry Tutt

When it was just the unnamed person in the sketch with the ponytails, there was something about him. Maybe it is the ponytails. There is just something so off about this guy.

4) Megadeth Man

It's the look in his eyes, also that weird heavy metal vibe. I'm not one of those people who think that metalheads automatically are killers or that i subscribe to the Satanic Panic. i know a lot of metal fans who are the most mellow people you'll want to meet. But the wild hair on him and the fact that this guy just happened to be there, creeping out the eyewitness around the time Deborah Poe disappeared...shiver.

5) Wadada

Just eerie.

It would be cool to have a web page that displays every UM mugshot along with a link to the corresponding case details & video segment.

There is a thread with the mugshots on this board, but I can't find it now. It also has every police sketch, I believe. Nightmare fuel for some of us. It does not have the matching case details or video segments, however.
