Hard to imagine the writers presenting this ?
Alice checking out their swim trunks / bathing suits which were NOT there. Makes one wonder if the boys & girls were routinely naked in front of each other - whereas it sure was not a big deal to Booby & Cindy in this episode +- Does this episode seem out of Brady Bunch series character ? Seems this episode is the only one that has any nudity or implied nudity (or whatever) - (?) Short Skirts & Bathing Suits are about as racy as the show gets ? |

I'd forgotten this one. I don't even remember the context. Alice should have referred this one to their parents, for them to decide whether they want their kids hanging out (hey I made a funny!) with nudists.
I'm sure it was implied nudity with those kids. |

She does tell them no they cannot go swimming with Adam and Eve unless their parents say yes, but I never thought about the implied nudity. Kind of raunchy for BB.

I'm assuming the kids had suits on, or some sort of clothing, under the bathrobes.
What was this episode about? Why would they even need this scene? I thought I knew all the episodes but I don't have a clue about this one. I don't remember an episode about nudists next door. |

This is a scene that seems worse by today's standards. The early 70s were a wild and free time since the hippy movement was still in effect.
The scene was supposed to demonstrate how good Alice was in assisting raising the kids even though they were mean to her in this episode and she left

that whole scene was just too weird for a bb ep I guess maybe Sherwood forgot for a minute that he was writing/ producing the brady bunch and not all in the family

It was not weird for the 70s. The BB was so squeaky clean they did not even have a toilet. If you did not grow up in the 70s then you dont get the context. Nudity was a common topic. There was a top 10 song about streaking and running around naked was as common as video games today. Look how many 70s shows had their characters posing in the nude. By today's standards yes, you would get arrested for allowing children to swim nude in your pool. The 70s had some weird stuff like parents sleeping with their kids and so many other free love stuff. So you must put the scene in context. Alice knew it was wrong but she only asked to get their parents permission LOL

It really seemed to be a meaningless scene, now that I've placed the episode. Peter and Greg broke the lamp and Alice blabbed to Carol (after Carol demanded to know what happened); Marcia left the record player on, same thing. They all got in trouble and gave Alice the cold shoulder. But nothing similar happened with Bobby and Cindy.
Maybe the episode was short and they needed another scene, but i can't imagine anyone coming up with this scenario. |
