Oh I'm sure there's still someone out there on dialup somewhere.

But yeah the 2000's was a weird time. Always funny to me when people talk about it as this pre social media world and I'm like "uh no, we had Myspace".

I had a horrifying incident like two years ago where water from under my kitchen sink was dripping for who even knows how long and got into the living room. That was a nightmare.

The closest thing I think I have had to Toilet Trauma since then was the "Beijing Beef Incident" back in like 2015 or so when my Mom and sister cleaned out the fridge on Christmas Eve and poured a massive amount of old Chinese food down the drain after throwing potato peelings in the garbage disposal. Basically, the garbage disposal got clogged up and when I took apart the pipe below that thing EXPLODED from the pressure of all the stuff in there and covered me in whatever the hell that stuff was.

That ALMOST ruined my Christmas, because I was so furious that I had to be the one to do that since there were no plumbers around working that day.

I did get the job done though.

My former co-worker revealed to me a few months ago that he doesn't have dial-up. He doesn't remember saying he does to me not that long ago, but he was joking.

From what I know, a lot of important government computers still use dial up, and also use Windows DOS.

Apparently, this technology is so outdated, it is almost immune to hackers because no one around knows how to exploit that code anymore, or at least they don't have the time or money to learn it.

It can. I had a scare last year when some water was leaking from mine and I thought there might be something wrong, but it was just sweating. Gotta remember to turn on the bathroom fan on humid days.

Funny thing is, whatever they did actually destroyed the disposal unit and it later had to get replaced.

When I came back to work this past Monday I heard an automated page in the store. Somebody told me they installed a new phone system which also includes pre-recorded robot voices paging departments. My co-worker told me cops were outside one night when it was being installed because somehow the police were called accidentally during installation.
