I Dream Of Jeannie toys by Trendmasters

My mom and I found some of my old toys and we found some I Dream Of Jeannie toys and I would like to know more about them? The I Dream Of Jeannie toys were made by Trendmasters in the 90's and consisted of a collection of Jeannie's bottle necklaces that came with a tiny Jeannie figurine. Mom and I also found a large version of Jeannie's bottle that opened up as a playset and came with tiny figurines of Major Nelson and Jeannie and it came with a computer game that was a coloring book of I Dream Of Jeannie. Mom also has three I Dream Of Jeannie dolls that were Target exclusives and the set has Jeannie in her genie outfit and Jeannie's sister. Are these toys collector's items for I Dream Of Jeannie fans?

I don't believe these have retained a lot of value. The dolls and playsets seem to go around $20 - $60 these days. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

They do much better, financially, if they're in their original packaging and untouched.

That's true of all "collectibles". I used to buy comics (to read) and mostly non-superhero types. Some were short series, but to the collectors, the only issue worth collecting was Issue #1. The comic publishers then took advantage of both collectors and readers by making several versions of the same #1 issue just with different covers. It was a scam, and is probably still done today.

But that mindset that something is only worth having if it's in pristine condition is what fuels the collectibles community. I just don't understand it. I buy things to use as intended, not collect.
