For those of you unaware, Disney Plus will soon be adding all 4 seasons and 114 half-hour episodes of the hit Disney sitcom "Blossom" as part of its Star banner in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, meaning those of you in the named countries who have Disney Plus will soon be seeing "Blossom" on there. Created by Don Reo, "Blossom" was a hit Disney sitcom originally airing on the NBC Television Network from July 5, 1990 - May 22, 1995; the series starred Mayim Bialik (futurely of "The Big Bang Theory") as the titular character Blossom Russo, the youngest of 3 children and the only girl in her otherwise male family: dad Nick (Ted Wass, late of the '70s sitcom "Soap") was a Studio Musician whose wife, Maddie (Melissa Manchester) walked out on Blossom and her 2 brothers: 18-year-old Tony (Mike Stoyanov), a recovering Alcoholic who later worked as an EMT; and 15-year-old Joey (Joey Lawrence), the teen lothario who was often smarter than he seemed to be. Blossom's best friend and neighbor was Six LeMeure (Jenna Von Oy), with other principal characters including Vinnie Bonitardi (David Lascher, fresh from Nickelodeon's "Hey Dude"), Blossom's teen boyfriend in Seasons 2 & 3, and Grandpa Buzz Richman (Barnard Hughes), Maddie's own divorced father. A little-known fact: the character of Studio Musician dad Nick Russo, as portrayed in the series by Ted Wass, was based on Dion DiMucci and how Don Reo observed Dion being a "normal" parent to his 3 girls despite his success as a singer/musician since the late 1950s with The Belmonts (Dion's original backing band) before The Belmonts left Dion behind and Dion went solo. Also: the Pilot was quite different than the rest of the series for a number of reasons, among them both of Blossom's parents being married, and their respective names being Terry and Barbara as played by Richard Masur and Barrie Youngfellow in the original 1990 Pilot, which used Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" as its opening theme song, after which it was replaced for series by "My Opinionation," written by Mike Post and performed by Mac Rebinak (real name of New Orleans singer/musician Dr. John). "Blossom" was A Witt-Thomas Production for Walt Disney Television. |

Whoa! But I am watching on Hulu. What a great show…who knew? I missed it back in the day. I had seen a few here and there but never gave it a chance. This show is pretty darn good I have to say….
