Default hard hit by actor deaths

An "in character" reunion show for DS today would have to be based around Willis and Sam. Kinda like a Brady Bunch in character reunion that could only have Greg Brady and Cousin Oliver.

That ain't never gonna happen, RKORadio. Without Gary Coleman, Conrad Bain, Dana Plato, and Charlotte Rae, it's painfully obvious that there will never, ever be a "Diff'rent Strokes" reunion, revival, or reboot. Don't hold your breath, bro.

The only possible scenario that'll be the closest to a reunion, revival, or reboot I can see occurring (and this is a longshot in the dark, at best) is having Todd Bridges and Janet Jackson both reprising their roles as Willis Jackson and Willis' former teen girlfriend Charlene DuPrey, respectively...Willis and Charlene would've both rekindled their teenaged romance sometime during the nineties--Willis and Charlene would've both been in their early-to-mid twenties at the time--and would've gotten engaged, and eventually married, at the turn of the new millennium.

Willis and Charlene would both now be middle-aged and approaching, as well as quietly awaiting and anticipating, their retirement when one of their children--yes, Willis and Charlene would've had children and become parents during the mid-to-late 2000s--unexpectedly kicks the bucket and leaves behind a child (or two). Willis and Charlene would've both raised their grandchild (or grandchildren) with the exact same values, knowledge, and tutelage that Mr. Drummond (and Kimberly) had bestowed upon both Willis and Arnold when they were adopted and welcomed into the penthouse following their mother's death more than four decades earlier. And wouldn't it be amazing if Willis and Charlene both inherited the penthouse after Mr. Drummond's death?

All in all, this is just a thought that popped into my noggin after reading your post on the thread. As I'd already mentioned, it's obvious that a reunion, revival, or reboot of "Strokes" will never, ever come to fruition--at least not during my lifetime, anyway. But it sure as hell doesn't hurt to dream, does it?

Enjoy your evening, RKORadio!

You make an argument here.. But for anyone who watched DS back in the day.. Wouldn't episode one just destroy things here? Willis and Charlene.. First off, you could get Todd Bridges onboard I have no doubt. Janet? She's done pretty well after the show.. Be kinda hard to get her back I think.. So.. Casting change.

Then.. That first show, you gotta deal with the deaths. Mr Drummond.. Ok.. Hey, that's to be expected, almost like the death of Henry in the Punky Brewster reboot. George Gaynes was old when the show was originally on.. Mr Drummond, not so much, but he wasn't YOUNG.. So, that loss.. that one's OK

Charlotte Rae would fit here, too.. Along with Adelaide the replacement.. Both of whom lived very long lives, Charlotte Rae passing just recently at 92 and Nedra Volz at 94 in 2003.

Then how do you deal with Arnold? With Kimberly?

There's just been too much death. Though, you do have one of the only ideas that possibly could work if it was redone into a drama.

The good news, the part that I kinda left out here.. I don't think you'd have massive insurance required to cast Todd Bridges who legitimately seems to have come out the other side of his issues.

Conrad Bain was only six years younger than George Gaynes. Not much younger.
