The Larriva Eleven (L11) is the collective name of eleven Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons produced from 1965-1966 during the dark age of the Looney Tunes franchise, which were all outsourced to TV animation studio Format Films (in association with DePatie-Freleng Enterprises); and directed by Rudy Larriva, a former Warner Bros. animator who worked for Chuck Jones' unit between 1939 and 1943. While the Chuck Jones Road Runner shorts were well-received by fans and critics, these Road Runner shorts were not received well from fans and critics alike.

A couple of the Road Runners post-1964 aren't too bad, iike Sugar and Spies from 1966--but that's a cartoon directed by Robert McKimson, and not farmed out to Format Films/Rudy Larriva. Another one is Rushing Roulette from 1965--also McKimson.

Looney Tunes has had it’s his and downs over the years. But now down gets as low as this dark era.

Again, my main problem with youtube video retrospectives, is they never do enough research! It's very hard to watch these, when they are getting half the facts wrong.

In an archived interview with Depatie, he talks about the Daffy and Speedy pairing being a studio mandate. Depatie-Freleng also had rights to use Sylvester and Porky Pig.

Better to stick with sites like Cartoon Research or Stevea the forum moderator if you want to know the real facts about classic Looney Tunes.

Basically, Depatie-Freleng was contracted to make Speedy / Daffy and Road Runner / Coyote cartoons. In the Speedy / Daffy cartoons, they could include Sylvester, Porky, the two gophers, Witch Hazel, or even the Road Runner and Coyote.

This may be confusing, because this was during the "Worlds Colliding" storyline, and the next two episodes that continued that story arc were successfully uploaded here years ago. I will have the Playlist updated, but you can also check out the Worlds Colliding video for all the important clips.

All things must come to an end. But in the case of Looney Tunes and the studio that made them, it was not a dignified one.

The Looney Tunes… Those of us who grew up in the 90s surely discovered them thanks to the show Ça Cartoon on Canal+, hosted by Philippe Dana. And I confess that my favorites were, without a doubt, Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote, but even icons like these two eventually faded into obscurity, ultimately leading to their demise.
