Default Why Did Bobbie Jo #1 Miss So Many Episodes?

Even when she was still a regular in season 2, the first Bobbie Jo missed a bunch of episodes, around every other one since I started watching Petticoat Junction on Decades last Monday.

Woodell was in 59 of the 74 episodes that make up seasons one and two. She only missed one episode the first season (out of 38), but once we get to season two she appears in only 22 of the 36 episodes. Out of the last 21 episodes of season 2 she missed 10. In an interview she gave in 1971 she indicated she left the series because in her words "I was going nowhere with it". There may have been problems on both sides, the behind the camera people may not have been happy with her performance and the actress may not have been happy with the size of the role. I thought Woodell was good in the show.

She was beautiful , but I really preferred Lori Saunders as Bobbie Jo !

Pat Woodell wanted to be a singer so I wonder if she was doing singing gigs during season 2 and that accounted for her absence. I heard that she left on good terms with the producers (unlike Jeannine Riley). Her “I was going nowhere with it” regarding her PJ role is pretty ironic, since she went nowhere anyway from a show biz standpoint. She did a soap opera role, a few guest spots, and voice overs for a few cartoons after PJ. And that was it.

I thought Pat was beautiful and had a nice voice, but Lori Saunders was a better comic actress.
