Default Summer of '84 episode

I'm watching this "Summer of '84" episode right now, was watching and listening to Jo playing the piano and singing "It Had to Be You." Wow, her singing is really BAD! How could the heads of the show subject her to this? Terrible!

And how could they subject "us" to it?

She and Natalie certainly didn't get any curtain calls after "We Need a Little Christmas" for the men's prison.

Probably to sooth Angry Jo's ego.

There are so many bad things about "The Summer of '84". Jo's singing should have cleared out that bar. Jo should not have been playing piano, as she had no previous mention of playing the piano. "Iowa" looks suspiciously like dry, dusty California. Even Blair would know not to muck pigs in a gown. It feels more like "I Love Lucy": "Ricky, I got mud on my new dress! Waaahhh!"

I do appreciate the fact that they tried an on-location shoot after they moved to Universal Studios. They had been stuck solely on sets for far too long. But I wish they had done a "The girls and Mrs. Garrett visit Universal Studios" episode instead. It would have felt more realistic than what actually got taped.

The irony is that Lisa could sing, and had been nominated for a Grammy. So they pick Nancy to sing?! WTF, writers?

The writers for this episode were Linda and Margie plus Dick Clair. Veteran writers for the series.

The worst singing came from "Dwayne" from What's Happening when he sang "Handyman" at school. Only difference is that he was so bad that he was actually quite funny, especially with the ridiculous dancing and whatnot. Jo was just horrendous and what made it even extra horrendous is that the scene was supposed to be serious.

Lol, I thought that too, then guessed they wanted a picture of her as an adult rather than a teen photo of her from FOL.

Apparently the person in charge of Grammy photos is a millennial who doesn't understand or realize her pre-Survivor fame, lol.

Haha!

I mean, I know Lisa is proud of her time on Survivor, but usually, awards shows get a photo of the star on the red carpet, not a photo where it looks like the nominee hasn't bathed in weeks and just stepped out of a Philippine jungle.
