Default A Husband sends Wife to cash in $250 Winning Lottery ticket, she comes back with $10!

A Husband said something like,"I had a winning Straight Pick 3 ticket worth $250. I sent my Wife to cash it in for me and she came home with only $10. She claimed the Convenience Store Clerk told her it was a $10 Winner. I was PISSED, but it was my own fault for not telling her it was a $250 winner. She doesn't play The Lottery, so she had no idea you can't win only $10 on a Pick 3 ticket. The minimum you can win on a Pick 3 ticket is $25 for a pair. I really should have told her it was a $250 winner."

I, Janice, , feel second hand cringe because of the guy being out of $240 because of a shady Convenience Clerk!

How does he know that he can trust his wife's claim to ignorance? My second wife pinched a $50 bill out of a birthday card my mother mailed to me. met me at the door when I got home from work to show me the neat card....and I thought that was it.

Until later in the weekly call I always shared with mom, she asked me what I intended to spend the $50 on?

And I was like "what $50?"

She claimed she knew that was exactly what would happen, and that she did it on purpose to prove to me what I'd never accept any other way.

All that appears innocent, frequently is not.

Wow. Your Second Wife was a selfish IDIOT! She should have known eventually your Mother would ask you how you enjoyed your $50.

How do you know your mom isn't the one who is lying? Maybe she just said she sent you 50 dollars so she could later blame the missing money on your wife.

He probably asked Wife about the $50 and she confessed to stealing it.

Lots of shady business going on, for sure.

When I was a kid (like, 18), I worked in a store that cashed in lottery tickets. People would ink over numbers in the hopes that their two-dollar winner would be accepted as a $200 winner, but all the cashing out is done through scanning. We had lots of attempted fraud.

The couple might be able to go to the convenience store and speak to a supervisor, who could check the cameras to see if the employee pocketed the additional cash.

He didn't say that so you're just speculating.

In the News, two Friends altered a losing scratch off ticket by manually putting their Number 30 on top of say number 20 which matched a big prize like $100,000 and turned it in to a Clerk, expecting to get a claim form for $100,000! The Clerk who was not an Idiot called Police for the Fraud and the Con Artists ended up arrested and booked and put in jail instead! Their Scam was number 2 in a List of shocking lottery Scams on a Pablito's Way YouTube video. YouTube Posters were like,"If manually altering a losing scratch off ticket to make it look like a Winner is only number 2, what is number 1 and worse than this?" Number 1 was a two male and one female scam where they scammed Elderly people out of like $100,000 with a Fake lottery scam.

"Trend analysis" I guess is the gracious way to answer that question.

I had an incident on Sunday Feb 20th at a convenience store. I purchased a drink and 2 scratch-off tickets. I then counted out $1 in change and asked for a pick 3 ticket with the numbers 3-3-3. The time was around 10:35pm and the cashier told me it was too late to buy the ticket because the drawing for the evening game was already in progress. I told her I didn't think so and asked her again to try to sell me the ticket and she refused. Rather than arguing I decided to leave and bought a $1 scratch-off with no luck. I got home at 11:00 and went to the NC lottery website and found out that the latest time to purchase the ticket is 10:59 meaning she had roughly 24 minutes to sell me the ticket. The numbers drawn for the pick 3 game that night were 3-3-3. I watched the drawing and just about had a Fred G. Sanford heart attack. The odds are approximately 1 in 1000 and because the incompetent cashier refused to sell me the ticket I got cheated out of $500. I called the corporate offices of the convenience store and they're refusing to make this right and chalked it up to an honest mistake. I'm going next week and take the matter to small claims court.

Oh my God, I'd be so PISSED myself! I myself had an incompetent Clerk cause me $500. I chose 2,4,6,8,10 EZ Match and number 2 matched $500. I begun cheering in ecstasy and happiness! Yes! But lo and behold, the incompetent Clerk accidentally hit quick pick, and NONE of the quick pick numbers matched anything. I was furious at her mistake and even showed her my slip that CLEARLY showed I chose 2,4,6,8,10 and her mistake caused my to lose what would have been $500. She didn't look at all that remorseful, her face looked like 😑 and I left in disgust..

That's certainly a unique situation. It's not an honest mistake, it's an employee not being properly trained by management. Please keep us updated on how the small claims court works out. I'm hoping it goes in your favor.

I will let everyone know how it goes, but I got my date wrong. It was actually on the 20th. Not sure how I got the date mixed up, but I have been under a lot of stress lately.
