Tim's apartment seems to only have the one bedroom with one single bed. If they show Tim waking up he gets out of the bed and maybe Uncle Martin will be sleeping on the couch or reading in the living room. But if Tim's up and awake Uncle Martin will be sleeping in the bed. Was this ever talked about or worked out on the show? It seems like the makers of the show thought no one was paying attention, and yet close to forty years later...

Tim wasn't wealthy, this point is made several times in the series. Thus it makes sense for him to have a small apartment with no guest room. So he and Martin just take turns sleeping on the couch.

When Tim's freeloading cousin showed up Uncle Martin asked "where's is he going to sleep?" and next thing you know the cousin is one couch, Tim's in bed and Uncle Martin (invisible, because he's hiding from the cousin who knows he doesn't have an Uncle Martin) is sleeping in the living room chair. Tim offers to take turns in the chair, so that makes it pretty clear that when the cousin isn't there, they're just taking turns on the couch.

This is certainly an aspect of the show I never thought of. Interesting though.

I wonder if Mrs. Brown charged Tim extra, since he had another person staying in that garage apartment? Or was she so smitten with Uncle Martin, that she didn’t care if there was another (non-paying) tenant in the apartment?

Perhaps she was relieved that both the bed and couch appeared to have been used instead of her having to worry about two men supposedly sleeping in the same spot.

Well, that’s the 1960s for you. On the classic daytime Gothic series, “Dark Shadows,” when Willie Loomis (actor John Karlen) opened up that chained coffin in the Collins Family Mausoleum and accidentally released vampire Barnabas Collins (actor Jonathan Frid), the 194-year-old member of the undead bit poor Willie on the wrist instead of on the neck. Apparently, DS creator Dan Curtis did not think that America was ready to see one man bite another man on the neck in 1966 USA.
Although, before the show ended in 1971, male vampires were routinely biting other men on the neck and female vampires were giving hickeys to female victims. So, I guess that’s progress of a sort? ![]()
