Eddie bought shoes like that in Eddie Quits School, they were Italian. In One of the Boys Eddie talks about his Italian shoes and Wally says he bought them at the army surplus.

Those classic Bass-weejun loafers used to go for in the price range of $60.00 to $75.00 at outlets in the New York and New Jersey area. I’m not sure what that means in 1962 buying power.

I could see the unfailingly conservative Ward Cleaver wearing Bass shoes and the preppy Wally, in emulating his father, probably also wore Bass shoes when he was taking Julie Foster or Mary Ellen Rogers to a dance or to enjoy some haute cuisine at The White Fox.
