Default I Prefer to Support Ebay vs Amazon!!!

I remember years ago a friend would talk about "bidding" for this or that on ebay...I kinda thought she was a little nutty but this worked for her at that time..

Now I have found Ebay maybe 5 yrs ago and I buy many things from them vs Amazon. I prefer supporting the "little guys"....aka mom & pop stores.

And Ebay delivery to my residence is so quick, hard to believe sometimes, wonder how they can do it. And many things that I need to buy shipping is free, so they make some profit somehow...

And a huge plus is that one can contact the Seller to ask any questions, and they have always gotten back to me pronto....

I never bought Prime at Amazon but know many do give them their money for that Prime stuff....

No I don't work for Ebay as I can hear some minds here going in that direction....

Most of the time "free shipping" on Ebay means that the shipping cost is included in the price. I shop both Ebay and Prime. I like Prime's next day delivery and I like Ebay for when I am looking for a particular item. I can find almost anything on Ebay which is cool.

I have a sour taste in my mouth from two experiences with Amazon some months back, it got revolsed, first time by Amazon and myself, the 2nd time my bank had to get involved with Amazon. 2 different hacking incidents and the firs one they actually got $200 out of my checking account and Amazon got on it and reverse it pretty quickly, 2nd time was like for $500 and the bank had to work on that one. So that alone is why I don't want to go in there...changed P/W and card I use etc.. But I still get stupid calls from "amazon" that they are getting ready to charge my account with $$$$....all hackers.

I've been using eBay since 1998, and Amazon since 2005. The Amazon Marketplace is cool, and I've been able to find some rare books I couldn't find on Alibris, Ebay, or other sites.

I try to shop locally before shopping online at all, but there are many products I just can't find locally.

Sorry that you had bad experiences with Amazon. I have been lucky so far I guess. But we can't be too careful!

I use Buy It Now on Ebay on things just sold that way, but haven't done the bidding thing in a long long time.

Amazon seems safer in terms of reliability of shipping and ease of returns and getting a refund if something goes wrong.

Yeah, I haven't bid on anything on Ebay in years; the Buy It Now option works fine.

I use both. I don't do Amazon Prime. On Ebay I buy it now. Years ago, I tried bidding on something, and I thought I was going to get and with seconds to go someone snatched it up. That soured me on bidding with Ebay.

Yeah, those last-minute snatchers are tricky.

The funny thing about this is, 5+ years ago, people spoke of the prospect of having an amazon fulfillment center built in their area, as a tremendous economic 'shot in the arm'. and there usually was a certain amount of cloak and dagger around the building of each one, trying to prevent "competing" communities from snatching the prize.

Now, there are two in my county, alone....Not so exclusive as first lead to believe.

And, I strongly expect they will have a "Walmart" type effect, in the long run, eliminating more jobs in the community than they create.

Amazon definitely has become another Walmart.

In 1984, Walmart moved into the town where I was living. Shopkeepers predicted a mass exodus of jobs, as many shops would be forced to close their doors. They were exactly right. After a few years, downtown was empty and unemployment was higher than before Walmart moved into town.

In that case, having a fix it shop like shoe repair would be ideal as Walmart doesn't have a shoe repair Service.

How many people are going to have their shoes repaired instead of replaced?

Not many, but at least that's one thing Walmart doesn't have!
