Default One VERY unrealistic thing about this show is.....

that lunatic lady/drug addict/alcoholic would NEVER be approved for a kidney transplant! Both donors & recipient must pass a psych evaluation & drug screen so she'd HORRIBLY fail!

I got a family member who had a kidney transplant so I know how this works.

Lord, you've made WAY TOO MANY comments about the ins and outs of kidney transplants in these threads. If it were a documentary I'd say "fine, go correct the writers" but it's honestly just a setting for the actors for the most part. Now they've switched gears and gave Gina a ton of money for the assisted living facility and that's strictly to try to save the darn show and incorporate some other actors into the vehicle. They like Darryl Stephens enough as Gideon so they can bring him into the assisted living facility and he's no longer just strapping people in for blood cleaning at the dialysis center - he instead has a NEW ROLE. Again, it's a change of role for an ACTOR they like, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate in what his job was or now is.

Get it? I find real life situations that are life threatening to be topics not generally used for SITCOMS, don't you? So they need to focus on the harsh realities less often, I would imagine. When Drew's daughter found out about her dad in season 1, they had a shot of a screen she was looking at online about kidney transplants. I was unaware (if this is true) that a transplanted kidney lasts not for a lifetime but about 12-15 years. Damn, that's rough if that's the case. A decade goes by in a snap so you better be lining up the next donor if you're going to live, again, if this is true. But does Lorre need to focus on that reality? In the name of making this show funnier, maybe not. So I'll ask again.....Get it? In the name of toning down the depressing aspects of a life threatening situation, it may be best not to focus on things like 2nd or 3rd kidneys that you'll need to live a lifetime. Maybe you don't actually focus on the fact that your kidney has to be biopsied multiple times in the first six months after transplant. You know, stuff like that.

If your intention was to tune in an see a reality-based sitcom that gets every last detail not only correct but actually put on screen, then I'd imagine you're fairly disappointed with this show. I hated it at the start but have warmed up to Gina's redemption and trying to do nice things for others in her life rather than being an inconsiderate drunk and drug user. I also like the new supporting cast. I'm not sure though that this show survives for a season three. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of love for it and How We Roll is taking it's spot in March '22 anyway. We'll see what Chuck does with it.

My very first exposure to this show, was also my very first time watching "Mom". And coincidentally they were doing a kidney transplant on that episode of Mom, too.

I didn't care for either show, and seeing the same person responsible for both shows, was not a huge surprise.

I'll be honest, I can't believe that B + got renewed. Obviously the whole thing with the nursing home becoming the central theme was an attempt at a reboot.....and for a while it seemed to be working. But you can only go so far playing off the "eccentric old people" angle. The frustration dynamic between Gina and Drew isn't going to carry the show, and Drew's van excursions are already stale.

Who wants to bet that Gina and Drew will soon be intimate, only to have Gina decide it was a big mistake, leaving Drew insane with frustration and self doubt? At this point I believe that is as inevitable as Larry Mondello convincing the Beaver that adding more detergent to the washing machine gets clothes cleaner.

I'm not a big fan of the show "Ghosts", either. I'm wondering what sort of favoritism this Lorree character has got over CBS, that they give him so much air time?

Ghosts isn't Chuck Lorre's show.

Really? I stand corrected, thanks. It still blows though.

I guess I must have drawn a false parallel between the wardrobe of some of the more historic ghosts and the season one intro for B+....

Not a big fan of United States of Al, either.

I believe the thing I find most disappointing about this show now, is that it has essentially become "Green Acres" where eccentricity of the cast members has become the defacto norm. If they continue to work-in opportunities for Annaleigh Ashford's musical talents, you'll have Hee Haw.
