The ladies are probably going to get on me about this one but this guy can't act. His line delivery is very stiff and I think he keeps getting parts because he has the kind of looks that a lot of women consider to be appealing. The way he talks reminds me of some over eager student who memorized a speech for high school can't wait to get it over with. The other fellow who played Terrell was a bit better, but he hasn't done much since ADW ended.

The way someone speaks has nothing to do with their ability to act IMO. I've seen alot of B&W movies and those guys talk stiff and in other fashions but are considered great actors. Besides I think Bumper is a good actor considering he's been doing it since he was a child.

I liked Bumper's character. He seemed mature for his age. His friend Terrell was the one that acted immature.

Bumper is a alright actor. I haven't seen him in many movies. I did see him in The Jacksons movie & White Man's Burden movie with Harry Belafonte & John Travolta. He was Harry's son in that one. I was surprised to find out he's from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio.

I remember him from The Jeffersons and from Amen as Clarence The So Fine! That used to crack me up when he said that!

I have only a vague memory of Clarence the so fine. He used to rap and do a type of funny hip hop dance on top of the furniture. I believe he was on that show in it's last season.
Although I'm no fan of his acting skills the poor guy keeps being cast in shows that either get cancelled or don't last long. Even in Eve he was supposed to be the male lead and they replaced him. The picture on the message board for Eve has him rather than the actor who replaced him. |

Bumper is a better actor than he was able to show on ADW. I've been following him for awhile. He was on an episode of Touched By An Angel during its first season playing John Amos' son that I thought was a nice dramatic role for him.

Bumper's alright. I've been following him for many years also. Anyone remember when he was Leon on Night Court for several of the early episodes and Harry wanted to adopt him. I think that's where I first saw him.

Hey Vashti:
Bumper's speaking style on ADW was weird. Do you think maybe he was directed to talk in that stiff manner because he was supposed to be a preacher's kid? Preachers kids don't walk around sounding like they are always making a recitation. I'd like to know if that speaking style was his idea or the ditrector's. To his credit he could step dance as was seen in at least one episode (the one where Kim throws up in her med school class). |

Bumper's voice as Dorian was definitely put on for ADW. I'm not sure whose idea it was. He and Debbie Allen later worked together again for a dramatic special on public television, called "Old Settler" if I remember correctly. Interesting thing, if you check Bumper's credits, he gets alot of voice over work.
