Just a heads-up that the 1992 murder of Lisa Ziegert will be documented on the TV series Cold Case Files tomorrow night (Friday, January 14, 2022) on A&E at 9:00 pm EST. The name of the new episode is "Murder by Moonlight. The UM segment on the case originally aired in the fall of 1993. The case was also feature in a 2021 episode of Forensic Files II (episode: "The Obsession").
As you recall, Lisa Ziegert was the Agawam, MA schoolteacher who was murdered after her abduction from the gift store she was working at. The crime, which occurred in April 1992, went unsolved for over two decades until DNA technology identified the killer as Gary Edward Schara. He pled guilty to Lisa's murder and is now serving a life in prison without the possibility of parole. https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Lisa_Ziegert |

Question about this case. Was the car with people the witness saw on UM connected in the end?

But Cold Case Files did make mention of the fact that Gary Schara staked out and watched the card shop in the days before the abduction. This did not go completely unnoticed by Lisa as she had mentioned to friends that she kept feeling like she was being watched. Lisa's mother Dee is interviewed and as always, she seems like the sweetest down to earth person. She made mention that Lisa has now been gone longer than the family had her. She said Lisa gives her strength on days that feel like they're going to be hardest. She said she can hear her voice saying, "O.K., mom. Stop being silly. Go out and attack this day!" |

...how did I not know this had been solved? I remember the release of the DNA-assisted composite (because I think a lot of us joked that John Krasinski was the killer, based upon the purported appearance of the killer.)
I literally had NO idea of what transpired since then. I'm so glad he was caught! |
