Yes it disables all avatars. It would be nice to have an option for individual posters but there isn't.

Delphi for instance has two paying tiers on top of free basic. Their top tier, called "Delphi Plus" gives their subscribers hosted space for like graphics storage, an account specific email address, search enabled back to the beginning of time, special hosting privileges, as well as other perks and bling, all for a fee of $45.00 annual.

Maybe TJ might consider a sitcomsonline + membership, where for an annual fee we could have like 2 MB of avatar cap, some local storage, things like that? You know, for the members willing to acknowledge the extra value of such service?

Since the suggestion of payment was brought up, I was wondering on how a tier system would work? The more money you pay means the more perks you get.


Free means you get the basics like 50 free posts per month and you can see other posts.

$1.00 a month allows you 100 posts per month and you can see other posts.

$5.00 a month allows you 300 posts per month (rollover posts into the next month are allowed) and you can post pictures and videos.

$10.00 a month and higher allows you access to the exclusive VIP Lounge where only paying members are permitted.

Keep the site free. If TJ needs/wants money, a simple request for donations should handle it.

Well, obviously money is a pervasive issue. Recall the comments TJ has made about throttled bandwidth, or the cost of extra memory, however he explains the "slow" issue.

Finding a way to give him adequate revenue AND at the same time provide contributors with worthwhile perks, is a "win-win" opportunity

Some form of bonus content for payers (you all can work out what that might be) but no restrictions for non payers in terms of number of posts.

It is bad enough Jim keeps pushing this horrendous change, now he has gotten a moderator to back him up. Tier systems like the + he mentioned only work for nationally well known sites that stream TV shows and movies. Pathetic to have a message board that gets a lot less traffic anyway than the famous streamers to even consider changing to that, activity on this site would get a whole lot less than it even is now. Jim has complained about my slamming this proposal of his, but I do it so TJ can see all the angry members here like me that will bring out who haven't seen this thread. Like PhoenixAcres said, a monetary system that discourages free posting and tries to limit it will do a lot more harm than good.
