I mentioned a 100 post per month "free" allotment, with 15 cents per post for any amount over that. So, if someone posts 2000 posts per year, which IMO is a lot, that would put them only 800 posts above their free allowance.

800 x .15 = $120 for the year, divided into 12 months, is ONLY $10/month. A relative entertainment bargain considering you'll be getting all my posts included.

And think about it from the other aspect, if some of these "freewheeling" keyboard mashers had a cost associated with their contributions,... perhaps they'd be more inclined to think first, before posting, and all the "You suck! ....oh yeah? WELL YOU SUCK MORE!!!" posts might go away entirely...

It is not peanuts or a bargain when it has always been free to be a member on this site! You also don't get to dictate how much other members should post and say there is a limit to the free posts just because you don't like what they post.

From what I understand the ad revenue correlates to the number of clicks on the site. More posts -> more pages -> more clicks, so from a monetary standpoint any system that discourages posting would do more harm than good.

Gentleman Jim isn't "dictating" how the site is run; that is strictly TJ's business. GJ just made some suggestions. TJ isn't required to take, or even read, anyone's suggestions.

Personal attacks are prohibited by the forums TOS, perhaps IF that rule were more strictly enforced,.. then I would have less grounds to stand on.

But what you really need to do, is take a time-out. stand back and re-read the thread title, I'm merely offering suggestions and supporting them with what I feel to be relevant criteria.

Notice that nowhere in the thread title does it say "Please consider this an opportunity to belittle those who offer suggestions you disagree with".....(fwiw)

Did I miss interpretation here, I didn't see any personal attacks. Other members gave opinions and all of a sudden they are personal attacks.

Talk about rules on personal attacks, I and my grandson who none know have been pretty attacked over the months. Some mean comments were thrown at my grandson, I won't repeat them. Talk about attacks. And while mentioning this a long time member has been raked over the coals a lot here...he hurts no one and is a punching bag for some here.

It's called voicing view points aka opinions.

The "personal attacks" I specifically mention there,.. are given as the justification for the recommendations that I made earlier about curbing abusive behavior, and how "pay to play" might rein some of that in by forcing people to consider if it's worth their dime+. You can disable avatars in Options if that helps.

Does that disable all avatars, I would consider that, but MOST don't bother me but this one oh brother, guess I could just ignore the reply totally, maybe GJ will change it again. Wonder why one changes them anyway.
