Default Questions sitcoms left unanswered

Pretty much every sitcom has them, they can be something about the characters or incidents that happened on the show or almost anything really. I thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss. I'll start things off.

I have 2 I can think of off the top of my head for Seinfeld. On the show what led to the hostility and hatred between Jerry and the recurring character Newman (wonderfully played by Wayne Knight) is never explained. But whatever it was, Jerry's mom has the same hatred for Newman too so one could assume from that that whatever incident started it, involved Newman treatly Jerry badly or unfairly. Also pertaining to that, we're never told Newman's first name.

Another Seinfeld related question. How does Kramer pay his bills if he doesn't work? He did work at H&H Bagels, but has been on strike for several years. I don't think acting out illnesses or returning bottles to Michigan in Newman's mail truck generated much income. In one episode, George rhetorically asks how Kramer falls ass-backwards into money, but no details are given. So maybe he got a huge inheritance or a nice insurance settlement.

1. Yeah, good question as to why Jerry despised Newman so much! It's interesting that HE was the one in the quartet who openly disliked Newman while the other three seemed to at least tolerate Newman's presence- ignoring Jerry's dislike. One would have thought that George would have been the one with the dislike since he was by far the most petty of the quartet!

2.True, we never found out Newman's first name but, let's not forget that it took YEARS from Kramer's first name to be revealed (at one point Jerry was calling Kramer's mother and even then said 'your son KRAMER'!).

3. Good question about how Kramer's source/s of income was never revealed. He always seemed to be on the verge of poverty yet he kept his (for Manhattan) spacious apartment across from Jerry. Perhaps the landlord didn't want to have to deal with evicting him.

And now for a sitcom question of my own (from 'Boy Meets World').

After Chet's death, Shawn's legal mother Virna reveals that she is NOT Shawn's bio mom- yet Shawn finds no clues as to who she may have been then TOTALLY abandons the search when Chet's Ghost makes the claim that said bio mom flew the coop BEFORE they could even tell her 'it's a boy!' and her identity and fate NEVER gets resolved even in the lamentable 'Girl Meets World' sequel!

Wasn't Kramer a baker who was on strike for 15-20 years?

I seem to recall a wacky storyline where he finally is fired.

I think you're right but I got so burned out by the show, I never watched it again after the Finale!

Yes, he worked at H&H Bagels, but was on strike for 12 years. He finally went back to work after the strike ended, but he ended up getting fired when he got gum in the bagel dough.

He'd have kept his job had a dropped a Junior Mint (which would have enhanced the flavor)!

I never really thought about this either. They could have worked in a brief flashback.

As for Kramer and affording the apt., one episode concentrated on his betting. Maybe he was always playing the horses and winning. He'd have to be really good, 'cause N.Y. apts. ain't cheap.

Jerry and Newman was a case of instant hate from the first meeting.

As for Family Matters, the youngest daughter Judy was never seen or referred to again.

I guess Chuck Cunningham, Judy Winslow, along with Vinny, Roy, Nancy and the Pigeon Sisters from 'The Odd Couple' all ran off together but who knows!

BTW, whatever happened to Rhoda's other sister Debbie? Rhoda and Mary went to the Bronx to attend her wedding but barely met her, never seemed to lay eyes on the groom and spent most of the time arguing with Ida(at least Rhoda did)- and Debbie as well as her invisible groom NEVER got mentioned again even when 'Rhoda' was its own show!
