Default The episode......"The Harder they Fall" was a dumb episode

This was the episode when Alex was trying to get a letter of recommendation from his teacher so he can go to a Ivy League school. So when his mom went to parents night and punched him for being rude alex felt the LOR was in jeopardy so he had his dad go down to the school and apologize. Then the dad punches him and alex invites the teacher over for dinner to make things better since he still wanted the LOR. So the teacher was still being rude while he was at the house demanding a different meal other than chicken. So when the family leaves to go to the kitchen to get something other than chicken, He compliments alex and gives him the LOR. So after he got the LOR the teacher started bad mouthing his parents. Then Alex got mad and ripped up the LOR and told the teacher to leave. Since he went through all this to get the LOR why couldnt Alex just changed the subject to something else when he started talking about his parents since he wanted the LOR so damm bad?

He could have kept the letter AND told off the guy for bad mouthing his parents. He already had the letter so he didn't have to pussyfoot around that guy anymore. He could have said "screw you and get the f$ck out of my house"!

That was definitely a dumbass move. What's even dumber is that Alex didn't even get to go to an Ivy League college because he let Mallory destroy his interview at Princeton.

I have no idea what the name of the episode is.
Mallory's boyfriend, Jeff attends Princeton University where Alex has his interview so he brings her along to see Jeff. When they get to Princeton, Mallory catches Jeff with another girl and she becomes hysterical and devastated. When Alex is trying to have his interview, Mallory busts up the session with her sobbing and whining. Alex feels sorry for her so he leaves his interview to tend to Mallory.
Very stupid. It's obvious that the writers were just looking for any excuse to keep Alex in Ohio and tank his Ivy League interview in the process. Alex Keaton would never let anything ruin his chances to attend Princeton University.

I haven't seen that episode in many, many years. It was a good one. Back then, I used to like Alex P. Keaton a lot but now I think he was arrogant, condescending and annoying. My favorite character on the show is actually the dad, Steven. Elyse would be my#2 pick. Then, Jennifer, Skippy, Mallory, Alex and Andrew. I don't know how Ellen or Lauren could stand dating Alex for as long as they did. I especially despised Alex in that episode where he pretends to support the ERA all so he could get close to some girl. He was such a despicable phony in that one.

I don't even know if I have the Pluto channel. I haven't seen Family Ties in years. The mom, Elyse is the real life daughter of the mom, Dorothy (Whitney Blake) from Hazel.

I would hate not having Antenna or TVOne. That's where I see Three's Company, Alice, The Jeffersons or Sanford & Son. I also like to catch Too Close For Comfort on Antenna. Logo is usually good, but I think they show too much of Facts of Life.

It seems Mallory would be considerate enough to allow her brother to have the once in a lifetime opportunity that would take only a short time. I get it, she was devastated at Jeff being with another woman. But man, find a park bench or a stoop to sob on until Alex can finish the most important hour or so we of his college career.

I remember that episode. One of my favorites. I especially liked the skill set of the man who played the obnoxious teacher. I wonder if he made a name for himself.

The episode where Mallory discovers her bf cheating on her happened a year or two before the LOR episode. It doesn't make a lot of chronological sense, but it is what it is.
