Lightbulb Separate checks are the best way to go on restaurant dates, right?

So, I was watching a What Would You Do episode where a Villain Actor pays for his Female Actor Blind date's check and she tells him she doesn't feel a connection when he asks for a second date. So, he demands his money back that he paid for her. WWYD Fans were mad at him for demanding his money back. WWYD switched up the scenario where the check comes but hasn't been paid yet. The Villain Actor tells her he wants a second date, but she tells him that she doesn't feel a connection. So he tells her to split the check and she gets mad at him. WWYD Fans got mad at her for getting mad at him.

In real life, separate checks would be the best way to pay, right? I mean splitting the check to me sounds like a bad idea to me if you have a burger, fries, and soda that cost about $15 and your date had a ribeye steak, fries, and a glass of wine that cost $40. You would feel resentful paying about $27 when your meal was only about $15. But, if you pay $15 for what you ate and your date pays $40 for what they are, you both would be happy. So, separate checks I'd the way to go IMHO.

When I eat out with a friend I always go separate checks. Also sometimes if there are say 5 or more people with you, the waitress gets a bit uppity for it feels like it is work for her to get separate checks. . I mainly like separate checks for the bill is only yours. You are not fumbling with, Who ordered what .- To me, it is awful headache splitting the bill and figuring out who owes what.

Yeah, splitting the bill is a bad idea IMHO. Separate checks for Everybody. I can see why a Waitress or Waiter would be upset making 20 different Checks for say a large Business Party, but MOST people do NOT want to pay more for what someone else ate. Unless EVERYBODY eats exactly the same thing, and drinks exactly the same thing, then splitting the bill makes sense, or better yet, everyone buys separate food and drink that cost about the same amount. This is the better idea, everybody gets an Appetizer, drink, entree, dessert that comes out to about $50 a person, but they all order what they want. For example, Todd orders Mozzarella sticks for $8, a Pina Colada for $5(Happy Hour), Ribeye steak and fries for about $18, a Banzai Brownie for about $8. With tax and tip, this would be about $50.

I can't recall a single time where I asked for a second date while the first date was still under way. That seems "prone to fail".

Better to let the first date run it's course, and if it was a positive experience for both, then there will surely be an opportunity for a second, third etc.

Now, all that said...I can definitely sympathize with the villain...I've had a number of bad dates where I wish there was some way to get the money I spent, back.. Where I spend most of the next day regretting spending $X for 4 hours of pure misery....stuff like that. But I've never been a big enough azz to expect a "refund"...I just chalk it up to experience lol!

However, Janice, for anyone claiming to be asexual and aromanitic, then yes, I think that separate checks are the right way to go.

If I felt sorry for the guy who asked me out, I would offer to chip in but a guy who is comfortable financially, nope. Things have changed so much since my dating life as far as prices and money comforts. I'm glad that is so past in my life.

Thinking about a guy I was so happy with in all respects but he was tight with his money....irked me but we didn't eat out a lot. And I would treat him sometimes.. He had a lot of good things about him. Loved his spiritual and sexy sides. Still think about him and wonder how he is.....

Technically, you're a pizza. People buy you, not the other way around.
