Default Post purge episodes where the Lost Girls would have been a better fit

Can you think of any post purge episodes where the lost girls were not in, but they would have been a better fit than one of the Core Four?

One that I can think of is "The Sounds of Silence". I think Molly would have been a good fit in this considering that her real father was blind. Kim really overacted in this one. Kim really did tend to overact in several episodes during this era of the series.

You make a good example of Molly maybe being a better fit than Kim in "TSoS"; Kim really should have taken it down a notch (or lowered her volume by two notches). I do like that episode, but wish Kim had just been a bit more subtle.

Kim overacted in Starstruck too.

I was never fond of the episode 'The sound of silence' (probably due to the fact that KIM was really bad at acting in there)!

Maybe if MOLLY had taken the part i would have liked it more?

PS: KIM was one of the best actresses in season 1 (along with LISA);
In season 2 she was fantastic too, but by season 3 she became annoying with her whining and overreacting nonsense....

I disagree. Tootie was to go into a fit of actual hysteria, where she was out of control. She did a wonderful job.

Yeah she was supposed to be over the top there

Here are the episodes where I feel the LGs would be a better fit:

2-01: The New Girl, Part 1: at the very least, Sue Ann should have been seen in the cafeteria. There's no way she wouldn't have hung around Blair, at least until Blair was almost expelled.

2-09: Gossip: Molly should have been in the cafeteria with her friends.

2-13: Pretty Babies: Molly should have been the one with the camera problem, since she was the photographer.

3-02: Fear Strikes Back: Cindy should have been in the self defense class.

3-12: Green-Eyed Monster: Nancy should not only have been in the audience, she should have been in the play itself. She was attending Eastland on a dramatic scholarship, after all!

3-16: The Four Musketeers: The girls should have gone back to their old roommates, Cindy, Nancy, Sue Ann, and Molly. Yes, Brenda was hilarious, so she should have been in there as well.

3-24: Read No Evil: Molly should have been involved in protesting the school's book-banning policy.

4-XX: The Facts of Life Goes to Paris: Molly and Blair were the only ones depicted speaking French, so Molly should have been on this trip!

4-01: Ain't Miss Beholden: Nancy and Sue Ann, as scholarship students, should also have been affected by the scholarship problem.

4-13: Magnificent Obsession: Nancy should have been the student obsessed with her boyfriend. We know she already was. The writing was very unlike Blair, who was never concerned about guys liking her.

4-15: Teacher's Pet: We should have seen Cindy, Sue Ann, and Nancy in the classroom.

4-17 and 4-18: Best Sister, parts 1 and 2: Sue Ann should have been the religious student; Jo was not shown to be religious, and it was a huge stretch.

4-23 and 4-24: Graduation, parts 1 and 2: Sue Ann and Nancy should have been at their own graduation, and Cindy and Molly should have been there to cheer them on. The girls they got to be graduating students, Emily #1007 and ???, brought no depth to the episode.

5-XX: Cindy and Molly should have been shown visiting the store. After all, they were just ten minutes away.

6-25: Bus Stop: Cindy should have taken the place of Annie at Natalie's graduation. We'd never heard of Annie before, and never would again, so that was a wasted scene.

And at the most, what should have happened was there should have been scenes in the dorm to transition to the new set. Like they did with Eastland and EE/Langley in "Brave New World".

Wow Retro, several of your ideas match up with my fantasy series of having all 8 girls starring on the show:

2-13: Pretty Babies: Molly should have been the one with the camera problem, since she was the photographer.

"Pretty Babies" - A top fashion photographer is coming to Eastland to find the new face of the '80s, and Blair is positive she is it. The photographer surprises everyone by choosing Tootie as his model and Molly as his new assistant---but the price of the photo sessions proves costly.

3-02: Fear Strikes Back: Cindy should have been in the self defense class.

"Fear Strikes Back" - Cindy is assaulted at night on the way back from a late sports practice and becomes afraid to go out anymore.

3-12: Green-Eyed Monster: Nancy should not only have been in the audience, she should have been in the play itself. She was attending Eastland on a dramatic scholarship, after all!

"Green-Eyed Monster" - Natalie wants the lead role in her favorite school play and she is not about to let anything or anyone stand in the way---including her friend, stage darling Nancy.

3-24: Read No Evil: Molly should have been involved in protesting the school's book-banning policy.

"Read No Evil" - Molly learns that several classic books and a magazine have been removed from the library due to a censorship policy in practice. When she writes a passionate editorial speaking out against it, she loses her job as the newspaper's editor. Mrs. Garrett tries to help and is asked by Mr. Bradley not to comment on the issue. Eventually all the girls find a way to communicate this issue to the parents, culminating in a large presence at the board meeting.

4-01: Ain't Miss Beholden: Nancy and Sue Ann, as scholarship students, should also have been affected by the scholarship problem.

"Ain't Miss Beholden" - Nancy, Sue Ann, and Jo's futures at Eastland are in jeopardy when they learn their scholarship funds are drying up---and Blair may be their only chance to stay.

4-17 and 4-18: Best Sister, parts 1 and 2: Sue Ann should have been the religious student; Jo was not shown to be religious, and it was a huge stretch.

"Best Sister: Part 1" - Blair's stepsister Meg, a nun, inspires Sue Ann.

"Best Sister: Part 2" - When Sue Ann decides that she wants to become a nun along with Meg, Blair sees herself as the only one who can talk them out of it.

4-23 and 4-24: Graduation, parts 1 and 2: Sue Ann and Nancy should have been at their own graduation, and Cindy and Molly should have been there to cheer them on. The girls they got to be graduating students, Emily #1007 and ???, brought no depth to the episode.

"Graduation" - Half of Mrs. Garrett's charges---Nancy, Blair, Jo, and Sue Ann---all achieve a common bond when their graduation from Eastland causes a flood of preparations and overreactions from their parents and friends. Mrs. Garrett and Tootie are reassuring and calm during the hectic last-minute graduation preparations, while Cindy and Natalie help Miss Mahoney get the event in order. Molly captures moments from all the girls' involvement with her camera and uses the photographs, along with snapshots from their previous years together at Eastland, to make nine very memorable scrapbooks for Mrs. Garrett and her friends. Together, Nancy, Blair, Sue Ann, and Jo see how much more they learned at Eastland than just academics.

I don't know about Nancy with Magnificent Obsession though, just because Roger doesn't seem anything like Chad (from my impressions). Nancy and Roger seem to have a very "equals" kind of relationship. I can, however, totally see this happening to Sue Ann because of her past experience regarding Scott Dunbar.

That really would have been the best-case scenario, for sure. If they could keep the Season 3/4 Eastland classroom set for Season 6's "Langley" classroom, they could have kept the dorm set around for a few more episodes to provide a better transition.

Yeah. I'm not even saying they needed to have Molly throughout the episode, but why have Tootie show interest in photography when we know that was Molly's thing? You were absolutely right to include Molly in this episode, as she fits well into the existing storyline. But even having Molly in the beginning, asking about the camera, should have happened.

Whether she was the central character in the episode or just a guest cameo, it's weird that she wasn't used, here. Especially because NBC credited her as appearing in the episode. WTF!

That's exactly how that episode should have happened.

They could have even had Sue Ann appear, providing a counterpoint and a bit of nuance to the episode.

Yep. I have long remembered how you reworked this episode, and your version just makes more sense.

That is absolutely what should have happened. Putting Jo in that role was just too much.

That would have been an even better episode.
