Nodsmiley Want to talk about Robert Stack a little?

Every time I see a movie of his, I have to stop it and watch Unsolved Mysteries. Something about that voice.

Anyone here seen any of his movies? I've seen Written on the Wind and Last Voyage start to finish. And numerous episodes of The Untouchables. Have yet to see his other movies through to the end.

Anyone remember the interview he gave that was on Lifetime's website around the time of his death? I guess it's gone forever now?

Anyone read his co-authored book Straight Shooting? He was apparently an excellent skeet shooter. Overheard a conversation one day of a man saying someone he knew bought one of Robert's shot guns. Said he was one of the nicest guys he ever knew. From watching interviews with him, etc. it's easy to see that. He seemed very charming, funny and personable. Seemed to have an outgoing personality, too. Not reserved like on UM, nor... stiff like his Elliot Ness characterization.

I remember in 1991 watching the TV movie, 'The Return of Elliot Ness,' where he reprised his iconic role.

Another movie with Robert Stack - A Strange and Deadly Occurrence. It’s one of those movies that keeps you guessing until the end.

I saw it a few times which is rare for me to watch a movie if I know the ending.

It’s available online for free.

I could watch the scene where he shows up at the airport and beats up pushy religious recruiters 100 times and I would still laugh

I wouldn't consider him a great actor, but when cast effectively and against type he was terrific. He did his best work with Douglas Sirk: The Tarnished Angels, particularly Written on the Wind as the ne'er-do-well brother. He earned his only Oscar nomination for that role. Otherwise he was a gorgeous plank of wood, which is all Eliot Ness needed.

I would have loved to have been in the recording studio for ('Beavis & Butthead Do America') just to see Stack's face when he recorded all the different times he had to say, "We're going to have to do a full cavity search."

I loved that Stack was in Beavis and Butthead Do America. I'm 43 now, so I grew up with Unsolved Mysteries as a staple of my Wednesday nights *and* enjoyed Beavis and Butthead as I graduated high school and went off to college. Great crossover personally.

I love that RS did that movie. He never took himself too seriously.

PS: He was the best part of Caddyshack II.

I literally JUST watched Caddyshack II again. My goodness, that’s a stinker, but he’s a wonderful villain!

I’ll always be partial to Baseketball, where he talks about “the nosy b***h that lives down the hall,” and then provides an update of, “We still don’t know where this f*****g guy is…”

On 101 soundboards.com you can listen to many Robert Stack soundbytes created by fans & create your own. It gives me the chills

One could probably create a Unsolved Mysteries podcast from this...
