TV Hazel & I Are Giving It Another Go

Well, summer's over now so it's time to put the Gidget DVDs away for another year till next June. I watch Gidget once a week only in the summers as it seems like a real summer show so that's when I watch.

But I replaced it 2 weeks ago by starting up a show which was always a favorite of mine for many many years, Hazel. I've watched Hazel since it was on TV new in the '60's. Then it went away and wasn't shown for about 15 or 20 years till cable came in the '80's and that's when my VCR went into action. Thank goodness for that VCR for Hazel would go away again for another 20 years or more till Antenna TV came along. But during the long absences from broadcast/cable TV I was still able to watch every week thanks to my tapes.

Then more recently I had to stop watching Hazel because I kept getting mad and blowing up for Mr. B wishing he'd say "YOU'RE FIRED" to Hazel. Her constant undermining and not obeying Mr. B's commands infuriated me. Don't know why as for the previous decades they never did.

But it's been about 5 or more years since I last saw Hazel and now I'm replacing Gidget with Hazel. This time I'm going to watch and NOT put myself in Mr. B's place and just try to enjoy the show and not consider what Mr. B should do or not. To just enjoy the program on it's own. So far I've seen the first 2 episodes and not blown up. Maybe it's working. I hope, I want to enjoy Hazel again without my breakfast sticking in my throat. Breakfast time is Hazel time once a week only.

The good news is the Hazel house and the Gidget house are one and the same, so it's like a part of Gidget is still around till next year.

I guess the HAZEL house became available when Steve & Barbara Baxter had a different house. The exterior of the 2nd Baxter house was used as a newly created house on both BEWITCHED & I DREAM OF JEANNIE (by Endora & Jeannie respectively), and IDOJ used its living room as the living room of Jeannie's phony house where she had Roger meet her "parents".
