I am proud to say that I started watching Seinfeld when it premiered in 1989 as a mid-season replacement. I think it came on Wednesday nights b/c I would go over to my grandparents after work and watch it there. I didn't really get into it full force (ie: start taping it) until it moved to Thursday, but I did watch every episode.

I saw an episode during its first season.

It didn't really grab me, I wasn't fond of his stand up comedy.

I didn't get hooked until the show got into its groove in the later seasons.

I, too, was watching the Seinfeld Chronicles. The stand-up segments were more interesting to me than the sitcom itself.

Oh sure, did that with lots of series, depending on your definition of iconic of course. To name three, Seinfeld, Friends, The Simpsons (I'm still in front of the TV Sundays at 8 on Fox if it's a new ep*)

*I'm interested to see who dies first, me or the show

I know I watched episodes very early, without much enthusiasm until they started giving each cast member a story line. Then the dovetailing at the end, made me a don't miss fan.

Yes, that's one thing I enjoyed about the first few seasons. Too bad they dropped the opening standup bit later.

I've seen 'em all, but later, in syndication.

I honestly didn't even remember when they dropped the standup bits. I just remembered they were there at the beginning, and by the middle of the series, they had vanished. To me, the stand-up made the show more distinctive.

The Simpsons died years ago. What appears now on screen is its animated corpse.
