Default Which character changed the least over eight years?

Which character changed the least between seasons 1 and 8? (I'm not including Season 9 since we didn't see many original characters during that season.)

I would say Natalie. While the other three girls and Mrs. Garrett changed a bit as time went on, Natalie stayed true to her roots.

If we consider the Lost Girls, I'd pick Nancy. She was still Roger-obsessed in season 8, as she was in the earlier years.

I thought you'd be asking which character changed the least between seasons 1 and 9, over the course of the entire series (hence the characters continuing on into season 9, not new characters coming along in season 9).

I think you are right on both counts. Nancy is crazy for Roger in Season 1 (at least the later part of season 1), and she's still crazy for him in Season 8.

Natalie is funny in Season 1, and is still funny in Season 8. She still hasn't lost her sense of humor, or that wry smile.

I wanted to make the measurement even. By cutting off the final season, we can measure eight characters instead of four.

Ahh, I'm on the same page now. Meaning since the Lost Girls appeared in TLC, that puts all 8 characters in 8 seasons (in a way) to pick one.

Natalie. Blair went from Experimental Blair to Prudish Blair to Airhead Blair. Tootie went from Adorable Tootie to Whiny Tootie. Jo went from mechanical/motorcycle tomboy to becoming more feminine. Natalie stayed Natalie.

Yeah. By just looking at eight seasons, everyone's pretty much along the same stretch of time.

Natalie definitely stayed basically the same; I do think she still grew a lot, becoming a writer and acquiring some "grit". But she didn't become basically the opposite of who she had been (Experimental but Intelligent Blair to Conservative Airhead Blair, or Diablo Jo to Permed and Primped Jo).

Cindy also had a major transformation, going from Tomboy Cindy to Cover Girl Cindy. Sue Ann also changed, to some extent, aiming for a high-powered executive position in the corporate world... a big change from her Kansas City, Kansas, roots. Nancy remained remarkably unchanged, although she seemed to use the phone far less.

Mrs. Garrett felt much like her old self in Season 8. Dignified yet caring. Strong but also nurturing. The strange behavior of Season 7 is gone. And yet, she, too, has grown and changed, going from a harried maid to a calm, mature, married woman. I love the end of her story.

I guess you could focus on the characters' looks... but I think their personalities are a lot more fun to explore.

Thank God Whiny Tootie is gone after season 5. But she's still Adorable Tootie in season 2

I agree, she developed a lot as a character but kept the same personality

Wow Retro, you really know how to put words into paper lol!

I love how you describe the changes of every character, and especially MRS G: she really returns back to her old self briefly in season 8, and that episode 'Out of Peeskills' remains my very favourite of that season indeed!

As for BLAIR's changes: i will always regret how she goes from experimental/rebellious (Pilot + season 1) to conservative/airhead!
The writers in my opinion did a lot of damage lol!
BLAIR had so much potential as a character during the earlier seasons, and she was the star of season 1!
Not to mention her famous entrance as the bad/rude girl from the Pilot, whose interaction with MRS G made quite an impact! (on me anyway)....

JO and TOOTIE weren't as damaged as BLAIR in my opinion, and NATALIE pretty much stayed the same, but adopting a more mature attitude of course.

I can see why it would be. It feels like a wonderful return to Classic Edna. I could live without the weird Winnebago scene, but it's otherwise just wonderful. My favorite episode from that season is actually "The Little Chill", with the writers updating us on what happened to my beloved Lost Girls, but "Out of Peekskill" parts 1 and 2 help elevate that whole season.

As you say, Blair was instantly a star on the show. She could always be a snob. But she was far more than that, in the beginning.

I think Natalie too, but Nancy is a good option if lost girls are included
