Confused Google searches that didn't give what you wanted?

So, I wanted to look at pictures of Clear Water, as in Water that is clear.... I searched on Google, "Pictures of Clear Water." Google gave me pictures of Clearwater, Florida.... Not what I wanted, Google.... I had to look up,"Pictures of Water that is Clear," to get my desired results..

Janice, it doesn't take much searching to get the answers one looks for. Small potatoes in life's challenges.

Google doesn't give you what you want--it gives you what they want.

There is a way to make it search exactly what you type, but i don't remember what it is. i just use Duck Duck Go. It does the same thing without 50 ad servers trying to track your every move.

There was a memorable commercials for Duck Duck Go where a Woman says something like,"My Husband's birthday was coming up, so I wanted to buy him headphones. I looked up Headphones on Google JUST for his Birthday, but now I keep getting ads for headphones even though I only needed the headphones for just my Husband's birthday. I hate feeling like I am being followed." The Announcer said something like,"This wouldn't happen with Duck Duck Go! Duck Duck Go respects your Privacy and doesn't hound you with unwanted ads."

I guess some are bothered more than others, I may get a ad for an item I looked up but I just delete. I just looked up a great doc on Wiki via google and no ongoing dialogue.

Janice, did you get a bunch of follow on ads on your water search?

Facebook is notorious for "stalking" you like that. You can tell it not to--it ain't easy, but it works.

I quit logging into Facebook months ago when this computer lacked memory for it. Now that the memory issue is solved, I find I hardly missed Facebook at all.

I never registered at FB, worthless in my life. My daughter has been a member but talks about being banned for what she mentions, her opinions, don't need that as enough out there in other groups.

No not a bunch of water add, but I get a lot of ads for cream dispensers since I look up Cream a lot. There is a big difference between getting ads for something related to what you search for often and getting a bunch of ads for something you looked up one day for a birthday... I can understand getting a lot of ads for Cream dispensers since I frequently look up cream, but I'd be PISSED if I looked up cream once and constantly got ads for cream dispensers.... Like the lady in the Headphone commercial who looked it up once for her Husband's birthday...

I got hip to Facebook after I looked up a shirt on LL Bean, then went onto Facebook and got an LL Bean ad for shirts, probably the same one.
