Angry June hoping Wally fails

June really comes off badly in the episode where Wally wants to get his driver's license. I get she's overprotective of her boys but the scene where she's looking happy and tells Ward maybe he'll fail is so off putting. Wally is 17 years old and she has a fit over him growing up. Later in the episode when Wally is studying to pass the exam with his family's help, she is the least helpful. Instead offering snide comments and still being negative. I felt bad for Wally.

"I think the approaching car should be at least 200 feet away, and I'd feel better if it's 300, and the best would be 400."

How about a mile or two, June?

Poor June - can't face the reality of her boys growing up.

She actually portrays women in a poor light relative to what was to arrive in the mid to late 60's.

My bet June will Never Ever wear a skirt above the knee.

I wonder how she even conceived the kids ! (well kinda sorta)

They're adopted LOL!

Would've been a script for season 7.

I just watched the season 6 episode "Wally Buys a Car" and it was nice to see Ward tell June to not complain about the used car Wally bought and just try to be supportive. Of course before that she was about to say something negative, but at least in this episode she wasn't that much of a nag and actually had some nice scenes towards the end with Wally.

If June was really worried when her son Wally with common sense got started driving a car. I'd hate to see her when "challenged" Beaver gets ready to drive. She'd be a basket case. W & J would need to step in and delay that event far into the future, or never. There's no way a 17 year old Beaver would be mentally able to handle driving with all it's quick decisions, and responsibilities required with his slow wit.

I don't really think that the idea of a protective parent sabotaging their child's "high risk" ambitions, is all that far fetched. Once the parent gets the notion that their alternate objective is "for the best", It's amazing what they can justify as a worthwhile sacrifice.
