Default Did Iola Work?

Watched some clips last night (when my insomnia kicked in)… and wondered if Iola ever had a job? She lived with her parents, so maybe she got some type of income/support that way… but did she ever earn a living outside the home?

Iola never had any job outside of the house. Her volunteer job was being care taker for her elderly parents.

Right, if she went to work, who was going to open her mother’s scrawberry soda

She was a caregiver. The lingering question I always had was, what would Iola do for money when her parents passed away?

I remember one thing someone brought up years ago.. there was A LOT to Iola's life we don't know about, we've never even seen her home... someone was talking about, maybe she DID work some place and it's just never mentioned.

I think there was room for a spin-off entitled "Iola" since there was SO MUCH about her we don't know

You'd think Iola would mention getting off work to go on the Hawaii trip, for example. I just never thought of her as having any job other than caring for her parents and making knick knacks for Thelma's house.

Also, at least in an "Iola" spin-off we'd finally see her house and parents.

One thing that lead me to think Iola MIGHT have some type of income other than what her parents paid her was, in the episode in which her mom kicked her out, she moves in with Thelma and her family and there was not ONE mention of what Iola was planning on doing for money.... you'd think THAT would have been MAIN ISSUE that Thelma ~and Iola ~ would be concerned about if Iola was gonna be out of her parents' home.... I'm guessing Thelma would not be too happy about using her widows pension, ss., etc... to support Iola.... and I'm doubting Vint and Naomi would be happy about having to support her ~esp. Naomi~, so it leads me to think maybe she did have SOME type of employment... Perhaps she worked for the church in some way.... Where I used to go to church, they had a secretary and a cleaning woman, I could see Iola doing something like that. Plus Iola seemed to organize a lot of church activity, so it's possible she was employed there.

Most of Iola's life was a mystery
