Default Wonder if these two sitcoms are the only ones cancelled that finished in top 20

Bridget Loves Bernie...ranked "5th" after 72-73 season too controversial

Gloria..............ranked "19th" after 82-83 season.......reason unknown

Wonder if there are any other shows cancelled as a top 20 show

How about...

Life With Luigi 1952-53 #13 also considered too controversial

Good Heavens 1975-76 #17

and some would include Funny Face 1971-72 #8, but it really got changed into The Sandy Duncan Show (due to Sandy's illness?), so I personally wouldn't count it (but you can count it if you wish).

There are several sitcoms from NBC's Thursday night lineup airing after Seinfeld and Friends that finished in the top 20 but were cancelled for poor retention.

While it was moved near the end, those were likely burn-off episodes and NBC had already decided to cancel The Single Guy. Union Square was cancelled at #8 1997-1998. Fun fact: Constance Marie was in Union Square before she had success with George Lopez and Switched at Birth. Jesse was cancelled at #13 1999-2000. Stark Raving Mad was cancelled at #15 the same season, by this time Frasier had replaced Seinfeld as the Thursday anchor. Inside Schwartz was cancelled at a tie for #16, 2001-2002.

That shows how much the big shows on Thursday nights carried the night. Seinfeld, Friends and ER were to most people truly "must see TV", however the shows you mentioned were all horrible. The only exception might be The Single Guy, I can't say because I really disliked Jonathon Silverman so I never gave the show a fair shake. Mid to late 90's Thursday nights weren't must see to me, but as I got older did appreciate Seinfeld a bit more (aside from the finale). I do wish I would have gave ER more of a chance, but it seems whenever I like a show it gets canned in the first 2 seasons.
