Throughout the five seasons "The Wayans Bros." aired on the WB network (from 1995 to 1999), Shawn and Marlon's mother (and Pops' wife) was often mentioned but never seen onscreen.
I was disappointed that Mrs. Williams never appeared on "The Wayans Bros." due to the WB pulling the plug prematurely in the summer of '99 (along with "Sister, Sister" and "The Parent 'Hood"). I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Pops' long-suffering spouse. Which actress do you think would've been cast as Mrs, Williams had "The Wayans Bros." received a series finale or been renewed for a sixth season? I think Roz Ryan ("Amen") or the late Nell Carter ("Gimme A Break!") would have both been interesting choices to play Shawn and Marlon's unseen mother. Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from you! Enjoy your evening! |

I would go with Denise Nichols...who would have been around 50 years old at the time. John 'Pops' Witherspoon was born in 1942 and Denise Nichols was born in 1944 so they would have been a similarly aged couple.
