Default Upstairs bathroom in season 10

In the season 10 episode where Darlene's daughter was acting like a selfish brat hogging the washer & dryer, there's a scene where Roseanne is upstairs outside DJ's old bedroom and we see a bathroom out in the hallway.

But in the original series, the upstairs bathroom was in between DJ & the girl's bedroom and they shared it. There would be no reason for a hall bath in addition to that shared one.

And I always wondered about that upstairs layout because the entrance to each room seem to be on opposite sides of the house. The girl's room seems to be at the top of the stairs, but to get to DJ's room it seems you'd have to walk down a long hallway all around the girls room to just get to that entrance since the entrance to each room were on opposite sides of each other.

It seemed to be an incredibly weird and impossible upstairs layout and now a second bathroom is shoved up there!

Also at the end of that episode, Roseanne walks in on Darlene's daughter while she's showering to shower too....but all through the episode Roseanne is moaning how her knee hurt and it's too much trouble to climb the stairs and too slow to take the motor thingy. So why would she go through all that trouble to use her shower up there?!

Especially since she has her own attached to her bedroom downstairs!

I don't remember a shared bathroom in the upstairs. I remember Darlene and Becky having a bathroom to Stage Left (our right), with the entry to it being near the closet at the rear right of the room.

I agree having a second bathroom upstairs is weird, considering their income (or lack thereof).

DJ's room was on the other side of the girl's bathroom in the original series. If you recall, inside that bathroom was the door to DJ's room. And in the episode where Jackie got beat up by her boyfriend, we see Darlene enter DJ's room and open the door to the shared bathroom from inside his room when she saw Jackie's bruises.

That bathroom was in between both rooms like it was on The Brady Bunch.

And in season 10, they added another bathroom out in the hallway which makes no sense if there's just 2 bedrooms up there with one in between them.

I think in Season 10 they tried to simplify the layout of the upstairs maybe realizing how impossible the layout was in the original series. But none of it made sense.

In my mind, I always thought the layout was whenever one of the family members reached the top of the steps if they turned left and down a small hallway they came to Becky and Darlene's bedroom/door.

Then to get to DJ's room they walked down that hallway, past the steps, made a turn, and walked down another hallway past the girl's room, until they got to the end, made another left turn and they were at DJ's room/door.

I can see going left to Becky and Darlene's room. I always thought that DJ's room would have to be to Stage Right (our left) of the girls' room, but it's all very unclear, and the second-floor window above the porch confuses me.

The one in the center that Dan crawled out of in the episode "White Trash Christmas"? Yeah, I don't know where that one would be located in the house. My guess is maybe it is an attic window, but I don't know because it is never stated.

Yeah, the dormer in the middle. It seems too short to be a livable area. I guess you're right about it maybe being an attic area.

That is the only thing that makes sense to me. The part that confused me was why the location of the basement kept changing. In the early years, it was behind the kitchen table, but then in later seasons, it was changed to the laundry room. Now in the Conners, it has been moved to the hallway by the kitchen.

Yeah, the changing location of the stairway to the basement is very strange. Not sure why it ever needed to change, let alone twice.

I don't understand it either. It doesn't make sense that it has kept changing around. I did notice though when watching the third season of Roseanne in one of the episodes there was a mention of a hallway bathroom but we never saw it. This is strange because we knew that DJ and the girls shared the bathroom upstairs.

That is one of the things I am glad the revival fixed, that it explained that there was actually a bathroom outside of DJ's room.

My interpretation of the Girl's room upstairs is their Window is on the Left side of the house. However, there was an episode around 1990 where Becky and Darlene were having a fight and throwing each others things out the window. We then saw everything landing outside the Front Door / Living Room window downstairs. I know it's all fiction / sets / etc. But it's quite mind boggling trying to work out the layout at times, lol.
