Default Full Original Unaired Pilot Episode Online

This was brought up in another thread but I hadn't seen it until just now. It's the entire unaired pilot complete with Jarrett Lennon as Mark Foster! Included are scenes that never made it on the air like Brendan bringing a tarantula when the Lamberts move in as well as Al moving in to Dana and Karen's bedroom. The closing credits are slightly different as well. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x409ohs

Thanks for posting. I had never really watched an episode of the show all the way through.

Some of the cast is weak, and the characters undeveloped. And did we really need the grandmother and aunt, too? And Patrick Duffy seems a bit miscast as a goofball after all those years playing Bobby Ewing.

However, I was most surprised by Suzanne Somers. She’s the best thing about this show. She knows how to deliver a punchline, and she does the serious/warm moments very well too. This is a better role for her than Chrissy Snow (particularly the braindead version of Chrissy). Staci Keenan also does well. It’s too bad there isn’t a better show built around them.

Thanks, Lorimar!

Having seen the remade pilot many times, I don't feel this pilot was any weaker than the broadcast pilot. I certainly don't see the "bad acting" from Jarrett that his second agent claimed got him canned from Step By Step (he mentions it in Christine Lakin's podcast). He was as good as Christopher in the role.

The Brendan-Mark tarantula scene is a nice bonus!

Viewers can still see portions of Jarrett in the broadcast pilot, at least in the backyard barbecue scene. And of course in the opening credits.

I wish they would have kept Aunt Penny and the Grandma, at least on a recurring basis. They basically replaced them with Cody, who certainly brought a lot to the show (and you really don't notice this until the end of the show, when he's gone).

^^^ I knew exactly what was going to be missing when I first got word about Cody being kicked from the show because he was my favorite character.

Maybe that was why Patrick went for the role because it was so different compared to his Dallas character.

God bless you and him always!!!

I uploaded this extremely rare pilot and own possibly the only VHS copy that exists today. When I was a teenager, my family was signed up to do market research surveys and this was shown to us privately via Paragon Cable on Channel 51 (one of their FirstChoice Pay-Per-View channels) and I was smart enough at age 15 to know to record it with the VCR. In 2016, I finally found the copy I misplaced many years ago in a box of unlabeled tapes.

We really appreciate it! It could've been lost forever otherwise!

^^^ Wow, I never knew that the first episode was never shown. Was it not shown later on at some point during the show's first season?

God bless you always!!!

They reshot the pilot, and it's basically the same as the old pilot, but with Jerrett's scenes replaced with Christopher's scenes. However, in a few of the broadcast episode's scenes, you can actually still see Jerrett. You can see "Old Mark" and Brendan playing together in the background of the scene at the picnic table, for example. I guess they didn't shoot a whole episode, but instead just spliced in new footage to replace "Old Mark" with "New Mark".

Can you reupload the unaired pilot? The links are dead now. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
