Dont flame me because I like the show. When it aired in the 80s, I never watched it and thought it was dumb. Several years ago when they aired it on Antenna TV, I came to like it and watched all the episodes. I never liked the mom character because she seemed so stale.
My funny pet peeve is always the ending when Belvedere writes in his diary. He does not even act or pretend to write. He is just scribbling quickly on the paper. It annoys me because you don't need to act to write. Why can you just write normally to make it believable. I know, I know, its a sitcom but this just annoys me every time I see it. I've seen this on other sitcoms but on Belvedere its how the show closes every time.

Hmm that's an interesting observation I never noticed.
I think the show didn't find a clear audience in its original run as it wasn't typical sappy family fluff like The Cosby Show and Family Ties but slowly developed a small following as another generation discovers it, certainly for me I like it even more now as an adult as I fully appreciate whenever Mr. Belvedere delivers his brand of sarcasm and sage advice to the family. |
