Yeah, either he wanted to leave or they thought he wasn't working out well . I think that they didn't want Ann to be settled down with a boyfriend or potential husband at that time !

However they did want to keep the little boy Alex in the show , so they had to kill off his Father Nick in order to have Ann take custody of Alex. Had they just had Nick and Ann break up of course Alex would be with his Father not staying with Ann .

I remember a crying scene with him yelling at Ann saying "I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure didn’t. One of many reasons why I didn’t like the later seasons.

Nope! I couldn't stand Alex, didn't like Nick either !

I thought Season 6 was weak, I wasn't happy with the addition of Nick and Alex ! Than season 7, Max and Julie were back in some eps., and Mark ( Barbara's Husband) was added , and I liked him so 7 and 8 I tolerated Alex because the show got better again , but glad when he was gone in season 9!
