Bill Cosby always maintained his innocence going as far as to not take part in a sexual assault rehabilitation program while in prison which affected his recent parole hearing in which he was denied parole. Now, will people start watching the Cosby Show again? Will classic tv stations that shied away from scheduling The Cosby Show schedule it in the future?
ABC News https://abcnews.go.com/US/bill-cosby...-vacated/story ![]() Bill Cosby was released from prison Wednesday after his conviction on sexual assault charges was overturned by Pennsylvania's highest court. The 83-year-old Cosby walked out of the State Correctional Institution Phoenix in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Wednesday afternoon, officials told ABC News. Cosby's publicist, Andrew Wyatt, told ABC News earlier Wednesday that he was going to pick Cosby up at the prison. Cosby was sentenced in September 2018 to three to 10 years in state prison for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004. Cosby has served a little less than two years of his sentence. Last year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to hear two points in Cosby's appeal to overturn his 2018 sexual assault conviction. In a ruling released Wednesday, the state Supreme Court concluded that Cosby's prosecution should never have occurred due to a deal the comedian cut with former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor, who agreed not to criminally prosecute Cosby if he agreed to give a deposition in a civil case brought against him by Constand. "The discretion vested in our Commonwealth's prosecutors, however vast, does not mean that its exercise is free of the constraints of due process," the Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices wrote in their 79-page decision. "When an unconditional charging decision is made publicly and with the intent to induce action and reliance by the defendant, and when the defendant does so to his detriment (and in some instances upon the advice of counsel), denying the defendant the benefit of that decision is an affront to fundamental fairness, particularly when it results in a criminal prosecution that was foregone for more than a decade," the justices wrote. The decision went on to say Cosby was the victim of an unconstitutional "coercive bait-and-switch." Believing he had immunity from criminal prosecution, Cosby testified during four days of depositions by Constand's attorneys, and the civil lawsuit was settled for more than $3 million in 2006. Cosby cannot be retried on the criminal charges. |

Old School must think it's okay to sexually assault women as long as you've had a hit TV show. Pitiful. |

I used to be a huge fan of Cosby. My old posts will bear that out. I was even in denial after the first few accusers came forward, but 50 million Elvis fans can’t be wrong. Plus, his own testimony about quaaludes is pretty damning.

There is no doubt about it. He even admitted to drugging the women so he could have sex with him. So what the hell is Old School defending? He's defending an admitted serial rapist. Pathetic.

Women lie in many instances especially when looking to try to cash in on a situation. Bill has never said that he raped anyone, though...getting high and having sex is as American as rock 'n roll. Sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. |

How about Jimmy Savile’s accusers? Are they lying “to cash in on a situation?” Roman Polanski? Harvey Weinstein? Bryan Singer? R. Kelly? Kevin Spacey? Danny Masterson? Jerry Sandusky? Larry Nassar? Robert Anderson? Mike Tyson? Jared Fogle? Innumerable pastors and priests? Which of these men are actual rapists and which are victims of lying liars trying to cash in? And how do you decide? |

No Bill Cosby shouldn't have been released, he needs to pay for what he did. However, there is nothing wrong with openly being a fan of his shows while disapproving of what he did off camera. That's why it is called acting. I unlike so many people can separate the actor from the characters they play. And The Cosby Show still paved the way for sitcoms to make a comeback in the 80s, without its success a lot of other shows would have failed as well. A somewhat similar case is Stephen Collins and 7th Heaven. I don't approve of what he did in his off camera life. But I will always be a fan of 7th Heaven and wish that news hadn't become public knowledge, if it hadn't 7th Heaven would still be popular in reruns today.

If I read the story right, Cosby is not being released due to his innocence, he's being released because the prosecutors made promises, on which they renegged, and violated Cosby's constitutional rights in the process. It's called "a miscarriage of justice"...his release...however contemptible, is appropriate

Yes, under the circumstances in which Bill Cosby was sent to prison he deserved to be released. The DA can't just renege on binding agreement particulars made under the Law. Bill Cosby was released from jail after being railroaded into jail after an agreement was made by former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor, who agreed not to criminally prosecute Cosby if he agreed to give a deposition in a civil case brought against him by Constand. Believing he had immunity from criminal prosecution, Cosby testified during four days of depositions by Constand's attorneys, and the civil lawsuit was settled for more than $3 million in 2006. Cosby was the victim of an unconstitutional "coercive bait-and-switch". Bill Cosby has always maintained his innocence throughout this entire situation.
