Leave it to Beaver was cancelled because Jerry Mathers wanted out. But I think the producers could have made a Wally spin-off with Eddie Haskell and Lumpy in their young adult adventures.

How about a spin-off where the Cleavers leave town, and the main cast is now the amazing supporting cast? Fred, Lumpy, Violet, Larry, Mrs Mondello, Judy, Penny, Ms Landers, Eddie, Whitey, Gus, Gilbert, Mrs Rayburn, all of Wally's female schoolmates. Instead the story centering on the Cleavers have the Rutherfords, or Mondellos. Or rotate the main characters each week. Maybe introduce characters who are talked about, but never seen.

I think they could have continued with Wally as the main character, perhaps.... It would be hard always having to explain Beaver's absence.... But maybe Wally could be in college or something and occasionally Ward and June could make appearances

They could have had Beaver go to Fallbrook Prep School, after all. Mathers could have gone to recurring, and be on once in awhile.

State Univ. could be nearby to keep Wally, Eddie, and Lumpy on the home front.
