Default Password Remake is Coming to NBC

All I know at this point is the short post BUZZR had about it on their Facebook page. "We are so excited that Password is getting a reboot on NBC! Stay tuned for more info to come!"

That's great news! I hope it's a daytime show instead of nighttime. Million Dollar Password did not work at all. I'd like to see it back with a format similar to Super Password (although I wouldn't mind the no-opposites rule either), but with a better set and bigger prize money. (I thought starting the jackpot at $5,000 was chintzy even in the 1980s.)

Actually, since Jimmy Fallon plays it occasionally on his NBC late-night show with guests using rules from the original CBS 1960s Password, my guess is they play it in that style. I think I would still watch, but the Password Plus/Super Password format was the best IMO.

I hope the newest incarnation of Password is not like the Million Dollar Password that was hosted by Regis Philbin. To me, the format was like several Lightning Rounds strung together. But I am curious to find out what the new version will be like and who will have the task of standing at the podium that Allen Ludden did so well at for an 18 year run over three versions.

Good to see NBC get on with a game show revival...! It's about time.

I really liked Million Dollar Password, wished it had a longer run.

Password is getting revived at NBC? As Gomer Pyle says "Golly" I think NBC is planning to take the title of game show king away from ABC and come up with their very own game show lineup and Password just might be what the doctor ordered for NBC. As for the gameplay I think this Password revival will be like Password Plus and not like Million Dollar Password with the late Regis Philbin was and they will most likely add a new version of the Alphabetics bonus round from Password Plus as well. Because when you take a game show favorite it is hard to do but for Password it is very simple to design and very easy to play. As for who will be the host of the Password revival here are my picks,
1. Kenan Thompson
2. Nick Offerman
3. Kevin James
4. Chris Pratt
5. Seth Meyers
6. Jerry Seinfeld
7. Jimmy Fallon
8. Kel Mitchell
Bestie

Ben Stein would seem to be a good candidate to host, although at his age I don't know if he's up to it.

Also, remember that Betty White married the first host, then outlived him and the subsequent 4 hosts. Whoever's next might be getting the kiss of death!

It is Jimmy Fallon behind it, so I guess the show will resemble the 1960s version. He's usually one of the players when they play on the Tonight Show, so I'd assume he would be the executive producer and a semi-regular celeb instead of the host.

I can see the NBC Password Revival being a equal mashup to the 1960s, 1970s & 1980s eras

I have seen the black and white version , the color version with the colorful back wall and alphabetics Password Plus all with Allen Ludden . Bert Convey's Super password I didn't like as much. Bert was too jokey. Allen, god bless his heart was wonderful gentleman. Betty, you got a good man. I will be interesting to see who hosts the new show and how the program will be played.

I like Password Plus and agree that Ludden was excellent.

How about a female host this time around?

I much preferred the version with Bert Convy and Bert Convy as host. I've always thought Allen Ludden was kind of boring.

Allen Ludden was a very bright man who brought class and respect to the game show hosting profession. He was the original host of the GE College Bowl and the right fit for a game like Password. Ludden hosted three incarnations of the classic word game until he became ill with cancer in 1980 and he passed away on June 9, 1981.
