If there is already a thread on this, my apologies. I didn't see one, so here goes...
I was inspired by the Norman Ladner thread on the main page and got to thinking. I began thinking about other cases that were ruled as "suicide" but were in dispute, be it with the family/loved ones, the armchair "internet detectives", or both. Of these cases, the Rebecca Zahau death was one of the first to come to mind. Just a brief synopsis. Rebecca Zahau was a 32 year old woman who was dating pharmaceutical CEO Jonah Shacknai. Shacknai had a young son from his previous marriage and in July of 2011, the boy tragically died from injuries sustained in a home accident while he was apparently in the care of Zahau. Approximately two days later, Rebecca Zahau was found deceased at Shacknai's mansion. She was found hanging from one of the balconies, nude with her hands and feet bound behind her, and a gag stuffed in her mouth. Apparently there was a message written on the wall of the bedroom that was something to the effect of "she saved him, can you save her". After an investigation (depending on who you ask) by LE, the death was ruled a suicide. This ruling has been vehemently disputed by Zahau's family pretty much from the beginning. I'd be interested to hear your opinions on this one. It's a doozy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Rebecca_Zahau |
