Default The house is always dark

After Edith died, all the scenes at Archie's house is so dark. No lights are on anywhere and you can't really see past the characters to the background. It's strange especially when you compare to AITF, where the set is so bright.

In contrast, scenes at the bar are brightly lit so it seems they purposely made the Bunker house dark but for what reason is a big head scratcher. To mourn Edith?!

I hope it isn't like this for the rest of the series. It may sound weird, but the set is a big part of the show to me and not being able to see the house in the background is depressing. I hope the lights come back up soon.

We did get to see the Bunker backyard for the first time ever in a recent episode which I liked. And also the fence between the old Jefferson house and Bunkers where Mrs. Camby is living in now.

There's even a swing back there where Stephanie was sitting. It was nice to finally see their backyard. Since you missed it, I found a video online from Daily motion of the full episode and placed the link below.
At 4:45 is where Archie walks out to the backyard from the house and talks with the new owners of the Jefferson's old house.

And at 14:06 mark you see a wide shot of the yard with Stephanie on the swing. Real neat to see!!

I really like Mrs. Camby and in future episodes her scenes at the house with Archie & Stephanie are so much better than the scenes played at the bar. I wish they'd have just called the show "Archie" and focused more on him at the house. I feel the bar scenes are the weakest part of the show.

And try to catch the episode that just aired called "The Incident" where Mrs. Camby plays a prominent role. We see just how far Archie has grown and evolved in his perception of black people. I think Meathead would've fell over had he seen Archie in this one.

(Actually it's the next one on that site I linked. And since they're unedited from Antenna TV showings, i'm going to binge on them myself.)

Remember, at that time, the US was experiencing an energy crisis.

Did they stay in the same house as AITF or relocated? I have yet to watch much of ABP.

Yeah , still at 704 Houser ( Howser)? Street ! And agreed with the OP , the house did look a bit darker, like more dingy or something? Not something you might notice right off the bat, it's subtle , but after this thread was made I too noticed the house seemed like it wasn't as well lighted as before! Could be they wanted the affect that the house was getting older, slightly more run down?

Well the first chance I get I’ll watch an episode during the Edith Bunker era then after an episode post to the Edith Bunker era and see if I notice a difference.
