Cool What Foreign Coins Have You Come Across?

I did a thread on this over a decade ago and I figured to make another one since I have found more since then and we have different active members today.

I live in NYC and have found many foreign coins mixed in with U.S. currency. I have also found some on the floors of banks and check cashing/currency exchange places and on the streets.

I am not including Canadian and Euro since I have plenty of those. These are coins that I have found and not from traveling to other countries.

Aruba (10 Cents)

Belgian Franc

Italian Lira

Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (1 Cent)

U.K. (10 Pence)

Mexico (5 Pesos)

Hong Kong (1 Dollar)

When I get something like that I tend to just toss it (don’t see me making too many trips to Ecuador).

But when Canada put the Stanley Cup on their quarter I did get one on EBay

Nice coins, James!

Canadian change is common, but I've also, over the years, found many other coins from Barbados, Bermuda, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, China, Japan, Italy, Mexico, etc. I've also been to Europe twice, so I have a large number of coins from Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Finland. At some point, I do need to sort all of it out.

Your unidentified coin is a Thailand 5-baht.

I've gotten several Canadian pennies and a coin from Puerto Rico. You'd think I'd get more living near a military base where they get deployed all over the world. I imagine they bring back all sorts of coins & currency.

Haven't gotten really any outside of Canadian in years, as a kid I collected coins, and my uncle who was in the Navy would send me foreign coins, should dig them out and take pics.

My mother gave me her collection of coins and I gave the collection to my grandson.
