Default My Top 10 Favorite Episodes of “Mom”

The following ten episodes are basically my go-to episodes.

1. Wind Chimes and a Bottomless Pit of Sadness (Season 4)
The pot cookies episode.

2. Freckled Bananas and a Little Schwinn (Season 4)
Christy steals sunglasses, while Bonnie makes a copy of Adam's handicap placard.

3. Chicken Nuggets and a Triple Homicide (Season 2)
Christy and Bonnie move into a house which had a murder a few months prior.

4. Loathing and Tube Socks (Season 1)
Christy is so annoyed by everyone. Marjorie's first episode.

5. Pudding and a Screen Door (Season 5)
Jill is upset about always paying the check, and Christy almost drinks.

6. Blow and a Free McMuffin (Season 4)
Violet is sick and wants to come back home. Luke returns.

7. Hot Soup and Shingles (Season 1)
Christy sprains her ankle, so Baxter and Luke work on her roof.

8. Belgian Waffles and Bathroom Privileges (Season 1)
Baxter stays in his van in Christy's driveway and the two get it on.

9. Death, Death, Death and a Bucket of Chicken (Season 3)
Bonnie has a mole on her butt that may be cancerous.

10. Ocular Fluid and Fighting Robots (Season 5)
While Bonnie and Adam fight, Christy's sponsor tells her to be nice to her mom, without taking credit for it.

While I still enjoy the series, going through the list of episodes, all of my favorites come from the first five seasons only. I’ve said before that the first four seasons are my favorite and every other season is a nice bonus but none have (in my opinion) topped any of those first four.

I don't know if I have ten favorite episodes. I do like the pot cookies episode and the one where Bonnie and Christy try helping a woman they think is an alcoholic they find in a bar. Seasons 2 - 4 have a lot of great episodes as does seasons 6 and 7 with Tammy. I like their serious episodes because they add a lot of funny humor you don't see coming. For example the one where Christy is dealing with her rape all over again after seeing the man in the group. Bonnie runs to Marjorie's window scaring the crap out of her because she needs help I also like how Marjorie closes the kitchen shades on Bonnie while talking to Christy and Bonnie responds, "well that was rude"

That episode was on my list at first, until I found a different episode that ultimately bumped it off. So that would be my 11th favorite, I guess.

So I learned about this from looking at The Facts of Life IMDb's page for top rated episodes. Here's a list of top rated Mom episodes from the members at IMDb. I'm really surprise fans voted so highly of season 8. IMO, none of the season 8 episodes compare to what the show was in seasons 1 - 4, and 6 and 7. I would put either the pot cookies episode or the one where Alvin dies as their best episode. I'm in the middle of season 7 in my rewatch. There's so many good Tammy episodes that also rank pretty high like the early seasons of Mom. I like the depth and character growth this show does most of the time.

The episode titles are so stupid. You can't even tell what the episode is about, the titles make no sense. They are mostly just random things that someone says in a particular episode. Very dumb, not like informative titles.... say like Golden Girls, Friends, Seinfeld or King of Queens, etc.

Anyway, some of my favorite "Mom" episodes are: the episode where Violet has her own podcast, when the ladies speak at the prison and Bonnie reunites with Tammy, Adam's ex-wife takes care of him after his car accident with Christy.

I don't like the episode titles either. I think only the real diehard fans of Mom would be able to recall each episode by the title since it doesn't give anything away. That's why I have my digital copies named differently so it tells what the episode is about.

I thought the second to last ep of s8 was really good, but the rest definitely dont compare to the early seasons. S1-4 is the golden era to me.

I would have liked it more if it had stayed on track to be a touching episode between Bonnie and Marjorie instead of making it another forceful plot to shove Jill and Andy down our throats. Jill never bothered me as much as the last season. Every episode had to be sidetracked over Jill's love life between Andy, Bonnie's therapist, or her obsession on finding a man. Jill was not a good replacement to fill the void of Christy's absence.
