Default The Cleavers celebrate the 4th of July

Is there an episode where they do?

I don't think so, but they could have turned that kite day episode into one, maybe.

I don't believe they celebrated any holidays, come to think of it. I can't recall a single Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, or Easter episode. I wonder why that is?

Why there are no holidays in LITB has been much speculated upon. Maybe when they were making the episodes they could not ensure that an episode would air on or near a particular holiday, so they did not bother referencing holidays or having episodes take place on particular holidays.

I believe the episode where they go the cabin, rough it, and fish, was shown on Christmas day.

That is correct. And it is reportedly Tony Dow's favorite episode.

Were they ice fishing? Wearing winter coats? Or could this episode lend valuable guidance towards the age-old debate about what state Mayfield is in?

Nope. It didn't actually take place at Christmastime, apparently. I have no idea whether they contrived to have it shown on December 25, or it just happened that way.

Playing them in production order (which we know is never done), "The Tooth" would have aired on 12/25/58.

"Happy Weekend" would have aired 2/12/59.

A couple of off-the-subject things--the producers appear to have swapped a couple of episodes between season 1 and season 2. "Beaver's Poem" (S2Ep1) should have aired 6/18/58. The swap: "Beaver Runs Away" (S1Ep37) should have aired 10/9/58.

My bet on the reason for that: by the time of filming, ABC or the sponsor had already made it known they wanted "Beaver's Poem" to be the opener for season 2, and the debut on their network.

By production number, the season 2 opener would have been "Ward's Problem."

Maybe the Cleavers (or writer/producers) were part of one of those cult religions that eschew holidays?

It would be a good question for Jerry Mathers.

The only holiday episode, I know is "The Haircut", in which Beaver and Wally are participating in a school play. A wall poster calls it the Grant Avenue School - Holiday Festival. June asks Wally, "Why isn't he in the school play?" Wally says he is in it , he has to "Hold a sign saying: Just a minute, while the Wisemen are putting on their beards".
Beaver is playing a angel, and at the end of the episode is singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", along with other students. As far as wearing winter coats, Beaver is seen wearing a light jacket at the barber shop and June comes home from the supermarket not wearing a coat at all.
