Sad Gloria Henry (1923-2021)

https://tinyurl.com/s8ddnss

R.I.P., Gloria Henry
April 2, 1923 - April 3, 2021

"It is with great sadness to let all of my dear and amazing mother's fans know that she passed peacefully today at 3:40 PM Pacific Time in her home in Los Angeles, California.
By her side were her oldest son Jeff Ellwood, and her daughter Erin Ellwood and her hospice care nurse Jaye.
My mother's career in Hollywood started in the 1940's, she was a Starlet under contract to Columbia Pictures alongside Marilyn Monroe.
While with Columbia my mother played the female lead in Riders in the Sky and The Strawberry Roan as Gene Autry's leading lady.
Later she was in television in The Files of Jeffrey Jones in the early 50's and later as Mrs Alice Mitchell, her best known and most beloved role in Dennis the Menace, a show many here love and remember.
Please raise a glass and a toast to our beautiful mother Gloria Henry for a life well lived."

"Dennis" might have been her only TV starring role. I remember her in character roles on "Father Knows Best" and "Hazel."

This is sad. She was the oldest female adult survivor from the Golden Age of Television. I believe Joyce Randolph is now the oldest at 96. We still have Betty White, but Life with Elizabeth wasn't well known or watched. Betty became a more known TV star later in life on MTMS in the 1973.

Betty is the 2nd oldest living actress from TV's Golden Age. The only one older is Marsha Hunt at 103.
Life with Elizabeth and Date with the Angels might not have been successful ratings wise, but the fact they aired during that period is what counts. In case anyone is curious, the oldest living actor is Norman Lloyd at 106.

Hadn't heard about this until now.
In a neat bit of trivia, Jeff Ellwood was used as the name of Dennis' friend during the first-season episode "Dennis and the TV set" as a nod to Gloria's son.
I remember thinking how neat it was to see Gloria as Doogie Howser's grandmother in an episode of that series around 1990.

That is a neat bit of trivia. That's also one of the funniest episodes. Dennis and Tommy should have both had tanned hides!

I meant the Golden Age of Television. Hunt and Lloyd are more the Golden Age of Hollywood Movies. Both of them and Betty did not leave left any outstanding mark on the Golden Age of Television. JMO

Outstanding or not they all made their marks in some way during the GAOT and that's all that matters.
